Re: Poaching
If you want a first hand experience of violation after violation, just take a stroll down any public pier.

Re: Poaching
That’s a loaded question because then it gets into judgment of character with people who don’t want or can’t buy a fishing license.
This is all my opinion. For the most part, people who have been purchasing licenses since they turned 16 or started fishing most likely have some sort of desire to ...

Re: Poaching
Damn
$950.00 That's insane!
What stops a person from going into a sporting retail store and walking out with a new bass rod and reel and not paying for it? And they will claim it's needed for the sustainment of their living. My dad would beat my butt and make me go back in and pay for it. If I ...

Re: Soft Plastics Colors and Combos
That’s hilarious….but, there are exceptions. Hudd ROF0, big lake forks. Sometimes a big “dropshot” isn’t for desperate timesStinkyPinky23 wrote: Fri Jun 16, 2023 12:27 pm If anyone ever sees me fishing a dropshot, I’m basically on life support at that point and may need a defibrillator

Yeah. Definitely could have been a fouled ray but those yellows do come into the breakers. I would definitely tell myself shark or ray haha

Re: otay 6/21
I wonder what would make them let go? I've seen dormant ones in the winter that had no plan on letting go. I've seen dead ones out at the River that seemed like they were cemented to the bottom!
Who knows, last time I was at Otay, I went into a cove near the ramp and there had to be an area ...

Re: Late arrival at Barrett?
I’ve done it before many times. Just drive to the boat dock and find staff to check in

Re: Barrett Blue Gill
Crappie jigs work well. A lot of decent bycatch bass on them also. There are some secondary points just north of the big rock face north of Wilson creek and pigs point. Find those. Cast out on them with a crappie jig (the road runner jigs with the tiny under spin work great). Work the bottom, once ...

Re: July 4th Fishing and Fireworks
Twilight cattle boats are always fun for 4th July. They’re usually not crowded. You get to see several shows and the bite is usually good. Plus the squid beds are here as well as nice yellows and seabass.

Re: squid
They look like Afro hair on the meter on the bottom. Cruise around mission beach looking for the beds. Most likely, you won’t be the only boat on them. Sabiki rigs work better than squid rigs imo for the market size squid.

Re: Front or back trolling motor for Barrett?
I never used a troll motor, if I get pushed around by wind too much, I’d beach and fish a point from shore. I also installed an anchor trolley and that made a huge difference for sitting “still” on a good spot. One other thing, you could make a spud that stores parallel on the side of the kayak and ...

Re: squid
All depends on squid boat pressure. I never paid attention to the bed lifespan but I’ve fished the same numbers for a couple weeks and made squid. Who knows if other squid move in on the same spot or what. I’ve also pulled up to numbers given to me by a commercial buddy where he had no problems ...
