Just a heads up to anyone heading to Lake Murray with a boat as the water level
is now very, very low and you may not be able to launch. Even my buddy Paul went
there to launch his bass boat over the weekend and took off to to El Cap because he told
me about the low water at the ramp.
I went over this afternoon(Monday) to check it out and took a couple pics. I personally have
seen it go down a few feet at a time from some recent fishing trips but was shocked when I
saw it today.
The sign at the top of the ramp says the boat launch and shoreline fishing will be unavailable
until early August yet there was some people fishing. It was hard to enforce this and as I remember people were fishing in kayaks, tubes and a some from shore when the water was lowered even lower earlier this year. So I am just letting people know what is going on as its up to you to decide what works best for you. All I can tell you is the water is getting lower and right now the end of the boat ramp is visible, water is shallow and rocks are also at the edge of it.
It will now be kayak time for a bit for me when I plan to fish Murray.
A guy who was putting away his kayak was glad he
did not bring his boat he told me.
This guy was here for a while and is not sure
what to do but I told him if he does somehow
decide to launch, he better have his motor up when he comes in or his prop will pay the price
When you first drive in.....

Re: Lake Murray Water Level Alert!!
Hey everyone.......fished Murray in my kayak this morning(6/20) and the end of the boat ramp is only a few feet away from where the water starts and rocks right below it. Just a heads up but doubt if any boats can launch now. Hopefully they will continue to allow the kayaks and float tuber's to still launch there.

No worse than a primitive launch ramp at the river and no current

Three funny shaped rocks and some long yellow tullies; I'm learning so much about the sub-surface topography of Murray.
