A sunset walk in Mission Trails wouldn't be complete without a largemouth bass.

That is almost a bass. Homemade spinner. Got to check out how this year's storms affected one section of the river. Only actually fished for a halr hour, but got some steps....

1/22-SD River before Home Depot

I was heading out to Home Depot and decided to take a rod and make a few casts at the river. I got to a spot where I fish and tulles and debris filled the area so I just had to flip in little openings. I was surprised when my Senko twitched. I quickly set the hook and landed this bass. A good way to ...

2/4-Murray

After some swimbait tossing from shore a few times recently, I decided to take the boat out and give it a whirl. The weather got hot quickly and geez...85 degrees in early February! Anyway....swimbait tossing for a while and then switched over to a crank bait and landed a small bass. Then around 30 ...

El Cap (2/13)

Got numbers on Cap today targeting bass in shallow water. I got on the water at about 6:30 and made my way across the lake to target fish hanging around rocks. I made a few casts into the shallows with a neko-rigged 4-inch senko on the way there and managed to get a fish to take, but lost it. Been ...

3/13- Lake Miramar

I thought about driving all the way up to the Lake of D & K, but instead made a closer run up to Lake Miramar. Decided to just take my small 10' '5" kayak that has no electronics on it and also meant I could not take a lot of gear with me so I just loaded some worms and some creature type baits, a ...

Eastern Sierra whitewater report

Many campground closed due to swampy conditions.
My jam is flicking spinners in little creeks. High, fast water limits presentation in most spots. Gonna hit parts of the San Joaquin tomorrow. Gonna have to be past the summit by 7 am to avoid the shuttle. The road to the postpile is open but the ...

Re: Eastern Sierra whitewater report

On the way home, I stopped at Baker Creek Campground outside of Big Pine.

Got two little brownies out of the various creek branches. The campground is very nice, and has two ponds that probably get stocked.

I made a couple casts into a pond...snagged a broken line that had a foot-long stocker ...

Re: Eastern Sierra whitewater report

So on the way home, spotted a medium-sized herd of elk in the wildlife viewing area. This is where the pastures are watered all summer to grow grass, and the elk come down to hang out an fatten up for the winter.

This group of about two dozen included one bull, who only had one antler. They were ...

Re: Cuyamaca State Park Fishing

A few years back I saw some people pull out trout from Sweet Water River in the Green Valley area, so they're out there. Just need to find the right pool. Not sure how much water is running through it right now. I'm planning for some camping as Paso the week after next. If Green Valley is open I ...

Re: Cuyamaca State Park Fishing

I got tecnu and it worked.
A few years back, I went on a short adventure with a guy whose occupation is removing pot grows from public land.
So I asked him what they use after wallowing in poison oak.
"Dawn."
Been using it ever since and no poison oak rash.
