I caught several oddly-colored fish out of the San Diego River a couple decades ago; only saw them in one particular area. Their mouths were bigger than a bluegill's....rounded pectoral fins like a greenie...but the only color on them was brown...even their eyes. Yeah, I know. Pics or it didn't ...

My last day of fishing for 2023 was awesome. Landed 10 huge Bluegills in a couple of hours. I was pulling a 2" sinking twitch bait and for a while-getting bit on every cast!

Got this guy as bycatch during a recent trip with a crank bait. 7lbs on the boga probably the biggest I'll ever catch. Thought it would be cool to share.

Yesterday my partner and I caught over 145 fish using small finesse lures that included bass (largest was 2.5 lb, 4 pickerel (largest 2 3/4' long), many crappie, yellow and white perch and sunfish. Before we launched the boat, I made a few suggestions to my 78 y.o. partner's tackle.

From all of your super effective creation, I’d bet you I can catch plenty of fish with some simple Walmart stuff like baby shad, CB slider and tube.
Baby shad for all around
Tube for when fish not so aggressive or doesn’t want a lot of movement (spawning time)
CB slider when fish feeding frenzy ...

Senkosam: we are very interested in your experience fishing for "strippers". What lures work best for them? I have heard it is $100 bills.


Give me a break! LOL One spelling error. (Besides, the strippers in my area don't warrant 100 bucks. $10 tops/ another $10 bottoms. ;) )

If you truly want to test your theory about not matching the hatch, why don’t you put something like a shirt button on a hook and go fish that all day. Most of not all lures mimic something in nature. Even your best friends creations. Most likely bugs. That fall into the water.
