Re: Tip of the day
Carry a small piece of rubber sheet, (cut up an old inner tube). Run it over leader line coils to straighten it out. Works like magic.
I have seen fly fishing stores sell a piece of rubber on a clip for a few dollars (LOL).
Another cool thing to do with those old bike inner tubes: cut a 4 ...

Re: Tip of the day
I freeze all my water bottles and they serve as ice for other items I may have in my cooler. I take one out and have it in the open, and have it gradually melt.

Re: New Loveland Updates
Making good progress and really getting into the nitty gritty with the CalEPA caseworkers and even DFW getting drawn in at high levels.
One possible problem with my CalEPA case is that I made a complaint of an "actionable threat" in 2020. That should have been processed and Sweetwater stopped from ...

Re: MORENA LAKE – ALERT
Same thing is happening with Castaic up here in LA and I believe Pyramid also had this happen.
It seems it's happening more often, no?

Here is the https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/17LkD39cJZoatD9RuunGEEynFy06fnqcOdwEuPvDi9QU/edit?usp=sharing that I envisioned/crowd-sourced and my wife and I put together as a wish list for trail and access improvements for Loveland. (Yes, it's okay to laugh at it)

Fishing up here in cowboyland
I sure miss the fishing in Southern California, especially the bass fishing. If you live in southwest Wyoming, bass fishing is pretty much not an option, unless you figure out how to target the smallmouth bass in Flaming Gorge (which I have not done, so far). But trout fishing is another story.
The ...

TaBASSco,
Some ramblings in response to your post.
Some history:
I am a 20+ year ago transplant from NYS residing in San Diego County.
Back "home," where I cut my fishing teeth, we had natural glacial lakes and multi-species river systems.

Re: New Loveland Updates
We had a pretty rowdy Zoom meeting yesterday with Andrew Hayes. As great as he is doing with the mediation he is attempting, we need Congressman Issa's staff to step up for continued Forest Service footdragging. Also, most of us are trying not to compromise on the fact that Sweetwater Should restock ...

Small Jigs fished along the Rocks on the East side of the Lake by the Dam will net you plenty of Smallmouth. The Green River, right below the Dam is some of the best Float Fishing in the Nation.

Re: What fish is this?
Bigscale Logperch were inadvertently introduced to CA in a shipment of sunfish to ponds on Beale AFB in Yuba County in 1953. The ponds were flooded and the fish were flushed into the Feather River. They have since made their way anywhere water from Northern CA is pumped.

I remember the locals swearing that my local pond growing up had piranhas. Ended up being some pretty cool looking pacus. And since the pacus had somewhat gnarly looking 'teeth,' they still continued the rumor that it had piranhas. The best bycatch from that place was a huge Arowana ...

Autumn fishing on the high prairie 2023
We have had a couple of snow flurries up here in Wyoming now, but winter hasn't set in like it did last year, when temperatures dipped to single digits and the snow hung around until May. No more fishing in the Uinta mountains across the border in Utah though. They definitely are covered in snow ...
