There are lots of fishermen and fisherwomen out there and this is your opportunity share your adventures in fishing by posting something. It makes SDFish a lot better and helps keep the site lively and not stale. This site give you ...

Tip of the day
I thought I would start this, others should chime in for our collective expertise. I will add things often.
1st tip of the day: if you find knots in superlines (Nanofil, Gliss, extra smooth casting braid) slip prematurely using your regular knots, then there are several possible fixes:
1. Put the ...

Re: Tip of the day
When fishing for bass close to shore with a weedless lure, toss the lure onto the shore if possible and then hop it into the water. Or throw it on a grass mat or lily pad, wait and then hop it into the water. The number of bites will go way up.

Re: Tip of the day
Not sure of the splash and spook theory. I imagine it varies by bodies of water. I’ve caught many, many bass that instantly hit a lure as it hits the water. Especially bigger swimbaits and by boulders and trees on the shore.

Re: Tip of the day
Today's tip: when you find a nice spot but aren't sure if you could find it again, save it on your smartphone (assuming you don't have one of those fancy fish finders with GPS and memory). Smartphone GPS is accurate to about 15' and that will usually get you close enough, especially if you have a ...

Re: Tip of the day
Don't overthink colors. Bass only have 2 type of cones (most humans have 3, a few have 4) and can only see red thru green (red-orange-yellow-chartreuse-green). A bass has a hard time distinguishing yellow from white or blue from black or very dark green. Spotties havent' been studied but I suspect ...

Re: New Loveland Updates
Anything short of buying fish from the Texas share lunker program would be selling the community short. I bet they purchase 5-10k bass in the 1 year range with poor genetic potential to re populate the lake. Likely no forage plant so the fish end up looking like Miramar bass.

Re: New Loveland Updates
Went down there today. It looks great. There were some carp rolling on the surface, and some little fish, maybe mosquito fish in a few of the most protected spots. No restrictions on easement use except that it is overgrown because water hasn't been this high in a long time.

Re: New Loveland Updates
I think he was really a rotten person. He was so anti-lake user, pro-sweetwater and I have several emails that show how bad it was. I always believe people can change, so won't condemn him for life, but let's hope he never comes back and does learn something from this. I hope the people where he ...

Re: New Loveland Updates
The buckets of smaller fish that have been put into Loveland will spawn next year (if they aren't already getting busy). Their success depends on whether the water district screws around with the water level next spring and summer. "Genetics" aren't needed; with warm water, consistent water levels ...

Excellent! we should have a "fishing in other locales" sub forum for people who went fishing on vacation to other regions and states, and ex-patriots who would still like to actively participate in the fishing report side of the forum.

Re: A-Rigs
I have had good runs with them fishing past cover when that is right, but not on windy points like you are supposed to. I have never done well with a- rigs in "open" water or seen anyone who has as you see on youtube. That doesn't mean people are not killing it like that locally. I suppose it would ...

Re: A-Rigs
I fish them a lot. This is all based on my opinion and results…Speed varies per a rig. The slower the better. I use the biggest phenix crank rod they make which makes a huge difference in casting and hook up. Control the landing on the cast so they don’t turn over and tangle. With a long cast, about ...

Re: A-Rigs
That's a lot of bells and whistles in one rig! I can't imagine losing it, that would be a disaster.
