Re: Upper Otay??
All of the sporadic water quality tests that CDFW has conducted over the last several years have shown anoxic conditions and extremely high conductivity (salinity amongst other minerals) in the water. No one knows why, but the development in addition to natural conditions could be the reason. I ...

Re: Upper Otay??
I mostly fish off a boat now, but used to LOVE to launch my tube in that place. It is the perfect size for float tubing.

Re: The rain
It's raining out there. Not too hard at this point, but a steady drizzle.
To fish or not to fish that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the body to suffer the slings and arrows of falling drops, or to take arms against a lake of Largemouth?
By the time you read this comment you will be ...

Re: The wind
It’s not the Slings and Arrows of Precipitation but the utter cruelty of the violent wind that buffets its way thru your soul, chilling both mind and body and ruineth thy cast.

Re: The rain
Tubed morena back in the 90’s and got snowed on. I don’t remember the bite, just the snow. Dad dropped a friend and I off near goat island. He headed to the bar. We had to kick forever to get to the ranger station. Froze. They finally reached my dad while we were warming up by the stove.

Re: True Story
Synchronicity is a pretty interesting phenomena.
As I get older, rest starts becoming recovery. In my youth, there was no such thing as rest. The fish weren't going to catch themselves.

Re: True Story
Tell me about it…. I just got home from a morning of surf fishing… Sat down ate some lunch, drank some water, and only now thinking of cleaning out the car of gear… I said thinking, not doing.

Re: True Story
That's a great story. Sometimes I do think there are things we can't explain, I don't know if we are looking for them, or they always happen. But, I do think it's good to rest your hand. I know the fish think so.

Re: Keep our Lakes Open
Good news for the lakes. The city has found funds for the lakes, Joel Anderson’s office sent out emails today.
There were 750 people from the 4 million in the county that contacted Joel Anderson’s office about the lakes closure.
We can do better. 750 is not enough .

Re: Lake Wohlford Questions
Not sure what’s really biting up there. In the winter time, they stock trout at Lake Wohlford and heard the trout fishing is pretty good. I have not fished that lake for decades but in the summertime at all the lakes, it’s either bass , bluegill or catfish that may be biting. It’s really hard to ...

Re: Lake Jennings
Quick update - we caught 2 bass and about 20 bluegill. The boys were stoked. The bass were caught off a drop shot and the bluegill with earthworms. The water level is so low! The bites stopped at about 9:00 and we were home by 10:00. Good times

How to remove a hook from a gut hooked bass
Every few years we get a few new fishermen on here that could use this knowledge.
Half of the patterns we use to catch Bass involve the bait getting swallowed. A hook is caught in the gut of the bass, making it hard to remove. If you just pull it straight out you’re killing the fish. There’s a ...

Re: Lake Poway?
Lake Poway is an awesome place that can be like the claw toy machines at the arcade. You'll spend hours or days trying for that one toy with little to no success. That being said it was an amazing place to catch DD bass back in the day. My first 8 and 10 pound fish were caught there in one day with ...

Roncador's 2024 fishing slide show
Haven't done too much fishing this year at least locally. Anyways figured I'd share some photos with you all since I haven't posted here In a while. I find it rather difficult to upload photos on here so I made a little slide show to post.

Murray AM
Heck, out of all the guys on SDFish, it seems like only a few go bass fishing based on the amount of actual new posts each week.
I know that there are slow times for everyone when you may only catch one or a few small ones, but why not share it. I understand there are some guys who like to keep ...

Revenge is sweet...
My little local lake out here in Ramona has been very abusive this year! After 4 months of 1 to 3 fish days, I finally started putting together some patterns a couple weeks ago and today was my revenge day! The weather was perfect, overcast in the morning and a high of 82 by 1:00! Normally in August ...

Better than Last Week
Hit my home lake again on Saturday 8/12. Had a better day. Was able to boat 4 and had 2 missed hook sets on drop shot and a missed popper hook set. Also had 2 break off. Still a fun day at Sutherland, finally!

Re: Better than Last Week
I've thought about fishing Sutherland, but I fish exclusively out of a float tube (living full time in an RV in my retirement it works for me!). I drove by the lake in early spring and it was windy, and I had no idea how I'd approach it, so I put it on the back burner.
I see you fish Murray quite ...
