The V is still going! Did a short session on 8/13 from open till about 9:30. Ended up with 9 total. Mostly smaller fish but managed to find two fish over 3lbs. As has been the trend lately for me there, shallow cover was the key.

Re: Still going..
Just do it Dannicus. The great thing about San V is there are plenty of Bass close to the Launch Ramp. Easily accessible, no long kick.

Re: Lake Murray Mid Week 8/30
I went fishing mid-week at Murray last Wed. (retirement rocks). I caught 6 bucket mouths total all quality bass. 2 were on the flats with a roboworm on a dropshot. All the rest were caught working the edges of tules with jigs and Senkos. All in all, a great day on a lake who's water is finally ...

9/4-9/5: two evenings at my favorite BoW
Made trips out to my favorite body of water the last two evenings. Weather was amazing. Wind was howling but it had the fish fired up.
Monday I started a little earlier than usual, got there around 2pm. There was a whole family with screaming kids in my usual spot so I decided to cast around at ...

Wed. at Otay
Fished sunrise to sunset, first time doing that in awhile, and first time to Otay in awhile too. Fog was sooooo pretty that I found it hard not to stop and make some art with my camera.
Not many folks out today. Warm and sunny after fog burned off. BIte was tough, as I'd heard, but got into some ...

10/24 - SD River(What the heck!)
Thought about hitting Murray(lots of dinks chasing reaction baits)this morning for a few hours, but changed my mind. Since I have not
been to the SD river in a while, I loaded my flippin' stick and another rod(both rigged with straight braid) and headed there. I was
shocked at how high the water ...

Re: Lake Murray Surprise! 10/26/23
Must’ve been a good fight. Always fun to catch a heavy catfish while fishing for bass.

Re: Lake Murray Surprise! 10/26/23
Almost the exact same thing happened to me a couple years back at the Murr. Fun fight, but a little disappointing when you find out it's not a bass.

You never know when the big one will come! My 10's came on slow days when I only picked up a couple fish!

Delta baby
After teaching a photo class in Carmel for a few days I got a chance to hit the Delta again. Sunrise to sunset yesterday produce three limits, jerkbaits, gunfish and boot tail flukes- fun times.
No monsters, but they’re always there lurking.

Lake Dixon Thursday
Had my weekly opportunity to shore fish from 4-6PM today.
Got 2.
Both drop shots.
The best part for me was I finally caught something on other than a RoboWorm or Senko.
Got one on a drop-shotted Yamamota pumpkin Kreature bait hooked once through near the nose.
I threw this one a couple times ...

San Vicente Boilers (Video)
Fished San V a few times this past week and both days had a fun bite on breaking fishing all around the lake. Best action was before the breeze picked up from 8-12pm. Quick accurate casts and small flukes worked on or just under the surface was the key to success. A few fish also came on the dead ...

San V on top
If you're going to chase the breakers, you're going to need some patience(sorry Vinny)! I got on the water at 6:00, with a decent Santa Ana blowing. Since I was only going after topwater fish, that wasn't really helpful! About 8:00, the wind turned around to an onshore breeze and the fish started to ...

Re: Ultralight fishing at Otay
I have become a big fan of BFS fishing.
There’s a lot of stuff available out there now at most any price point.
I’m using a Megabass Triza Aello rod, a true 0 power UL that will throw baits as light as 1/32oz. My reel is a Daiwa Silver Creek Air Stream Custom.
It makes even smaller fish a ton ...

Re: Ultralight fishing at Otay
Looks like a fun day. Its funny how we go in trends for fishing styles. I used to fish ultralight setups all the time (spinning and casting) and then went to heavy line stuff. I've recently transitioned back to mostly light action gear here in San Diego now.

Re: Ultralight fishing at Otay
That looks like an excellent setup. I love ultralight fishing, but to be honest I really don't like spinning reels. Especially on ultralights. I am fishing 6 lb. Braid to 4 (or sometimes even 2 lb.) flouro carbon leader, and I am constantly having to fight line twist.
Yesterday I had to cut out ...
