Dannicus wrote: Mon Oct 27, 2025 9:07 pm I bet the bluegill fought harder than that little bass huh? Nice!
Yes, certainly some great battles going on around the kayak, fun to see the bass jump! I love catching either one of them.
Cheers!

Lake Jennings Bluegill

Saturday was full of raging rainstorms. Finally got a chance to go fishing Sunday. I wanted to try bluegill fishing after some trout fishing because I often run out of trout to catch. Right after Saturday's storm, catfish would be biting better. The panfish and bass were pretty lockjaw even on live ...

Mission Bay 12/22

Fished the back of mission bay, afternoon outgoing tide. Was joping to get on a crankbait bite but they werent into it. Switched to the trusty weedless fluke and the bite was on. Loads of bait in clearish water. Nothing big but fun on light line.

Feel for the Winter,

]But dont have a cold heart.

Took a break from lmb and tried a couple bay trips.

Sometimes fishing sucks, sometimes it doesn't. Recently got into a wfo spotty bite and hammered it for 3 hours. Never went more than a couple minutes without a bendo. Pretty much got bit every other cast on the yo ...

Son’s First Halibut in Mission Bay 1/13

Rented a skiff to bond with my son. Didn’t have hi expectations especially since we are beginners. Was about to call it a day and he snagged a legal halibut on live sardine. He was so pumped and now is addicted.

SD Bay 1/20

Original plan was to go throw small flies on the ultra light trout rod at schools of mullet. That changed after spending 1-2 hours and finding only 3 mullet up shallow that didnt want to play. Tossed on the ned rig with a really small fluke and the bite was on. It wasn't a numbers day but very good ...

Best color is a clear choice

Saw large schools of 2" slough anchovies in the harbor I was fishing in today. The clear curly tail grub worked better than anything else I tried (full disclosure: did not try a junebug craw though). I used the same lure as 2 weeks ago when I got the 26.8 lb halibut, lure shown below for reference ...

Mission Bay 10/24

I was on the water at 6:30 am. Caught 2 Bass the first hour. Then nothing for the next 2 hours. My shoulder was starting to hurt. Since it was a nice day out. Like summer, I decided to do some trolling around the bay. Caught 4 more on the troll. Off the water by 11:00 am.

Re: Mission Bay 20/24

FYI, you should consider physical therapy. I had some surgery on my shoulder a few years ago, went to physical therapy and regained full range of movement. Then a few months later, started hurting and went to physical therapy again and with a few exercises, problem went away in a few days.

I have ...

Re: Mission Bay 10/24

I think it was a career I chose. I was a truck driver household good mover for 40 years. All that heavy lifting and stairs took its toll on me. Stretching does help. I think I need to do some stretching before I go fishing.

Re: South SD bay 12/17

That sounds like a lot of fun, Dan. And those fish fight pretty well too. Glad to see you out catching fish as always and thanks for sharing.
I’m afraid if I fish saltwater, I may never go back to a lake ha ha. Tight line always buddy. :-)
