It's a log perch. Never seen one before in California.

Wonder how it got to El Cap? Not native to here and not a common aquarium fish.

Bigscale Logperch were inadvertently introduced to CA in a shipment of sunfish to ponds on Beale AFB in Yuba County in 1953. The ponds were flooded and the fish were flushed into the Feather River. They have since made their way anywhere water from Northern CA is pumped.

I've seen one floating in San V last year!

High water in mission vally. For weeks the water level has been high. Anyone fished upstream and seen the same thing? I'm just really curious where all this water comes from considering it hasn't rained in quite a while.

We have had a couple of snow flurries up here in Wyoming now, but winter hasn't set in like it did last year, when temperatures dipped to single digits and the snow hung around until May. No more fishing in the Uinta mountains across the border in Utah though. They definitely are covered in snow ...

I think your're stuck on step 1 of your 12 step program to break your tackle buying addiction! I had high hopes...but that was 5 years ago! I'm afraid you're losing the battle! Oh well, tight lines then!

So to lessen the odds of impulse buying, put those baits that look good on your wish list but don't buy them that day. Wait until after your next fishing trip on a sunny day. If they still look like you need them, then buy them then.
