Re: Willpower.. when not Bass fishing

I like the sales cons, "Give 'em something they haven't seen". Well, bass have seen bluegill and crawdads and frogs and they still like them. They like the old 35 MM film containers wrapped in tin foil, used as poppers, I saw a guy catch 35 bass one morning on a film container. All he had was that ...

Re: Willpower.. when not Bass fishing

A bass would kill that! A big one. Thanks for sharing. The hook on the tail must have gone out of style? Maybe a Muskie lure? How about making a replica that doesn't have sentimental value and going on a mission with that?

Re: Willpower.. when not Bass fishing

Well done, Vinny!!

You and most of us are attracted to pretty bass lures and we become fishing tackle "ho's." It's not your fault brother, you're the victim!!
I tell myself that every time I go shopping for tackle (sure am glad my wife is not aware of this fishing site).

Re: Willpower.. when not Bass fishing

The issue I have with all of those product videos and even most of the technique videos is they aren’t filmed on lakes that are similar to our local lakes, small and heavily pressured.

Our lakes fish SO much differently than any other lakes in the country. Our lakes are so small and pressured that ...

Re: total begginer

February 3rd, there is a Kids Fishing Derby at Lake Poway. If you could make it I guarantee you and your son will learn a lot about catching fish in the local lakes. Also, the Volunteers and Park Rangers are savvy and can help you with rigging and knots. All tackle is available at the Tackle Shop ...

Re: SDFish Blog & Articles

Anyone can bite heads off Roboworms. It takes a real man to bite the head off of a live mantis shrimp.

Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes the reason is people are stupid and make bad decisions.

Re: Hodges opener?

Hey all I headed to the opener on Wednesday and to begin with it was mostly crappie guys. I ended up getting 2 bass. The first was on a Rapala DT 10 craw colored. The second I was just trolling back to the launch with a big 20+ old shad colored crank (I don't honestly remember what brand) and got ...

Re: The rain

It's raining out there. Not too hard at this point, but a steady drizzle.

To fish or not to fish that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the body to suffer the slings and arrows of falling drops, or to take arms against a lake of Largemouth?

By the time you read this comment you will be ...

Another Personal Best 04/03/24

Welp. the weather finally stared to get warm up here in Wyoming. A lot of the ice has begun to melt on the Flaming Gorge, and all the ice is gone in the lower half of the reservoir. The last couple of months has been pretty slow, and I have been skunked throughout most of February and March. So when ...

FINALLY! A couple of chonkies from the Gorge

Today was the day that I decided to try out a spot that I had scouted out back in February at Flaming Gorge. It's always trout season up here, but spring brings the smallies around the rock piles, and I have always wanted to catch a small mouth bass, especially seeing as how I miss the green bassies ...

Re: The City of San Diego is at it again!

What would the $ 59k cover? Back when Supervisor Anderson was doing his lakes initiative thing it was clear the lakes wanted no involvement of none unless it was a windfall. Anderson offered the city 600,000 For 45-something lake days over 6 years, that one day a month at each lake. That windfall is ...

This is interesting. Find a way for a government contractor to make money with these bodies of water on public land.

True Story

I fished every day last week. On Friday I was dealing with some nagging hand pain that I assumed was arthritis. By mid-day on Saturday it had become pretty acute. So much so that it kept me awake that night. I was having trouble even making a fist. I wasn't sure if it was muscular, tendonitis ...

Is there a site that I can check that is up to date?

Re: Keep our Lakes Open

Good news for the lakes. The city has found funds for the lakes, Joel Anderson’s office sent out emails today.
There were 750 people from the 4 million in the county that contacted Joel Anderson’s office about the lakes closure.
We can do better. 750 is not enough .
