Murray 31 January

I took advanced of the warm weather over the weekend and put in a few hours Saturday morning.

I caught a smallish bass on a drop shot in 20 feet of water on the first cast. I have been using 6th Sense’s new 4.3 drop shot minnow with great results. No first cast curse for me as I went on to catch 8 ...

Yes, you can shore pound, kayak, float tube or hand carry a small boat. I highly doubt we'll be able to launch a boat at Hodges in our lifetime!

Re: 2/4-Murray

After some swimbait tossing from shore a few times recently, I decided to take the boat out and give it a whirl. The weather got hot quickly and geez...85 degrees in early February! Anyway....swimbait tossing for a while and then switched over to a crank bait and landed a small bass. Then around 30 ...

Re: 2/4-Murray

Nightcrawlers! Ha ha ha, I brought some with me last month and learned Vinny don’t do no bait. Heresy! By the way I finally got Skunked at Canyon Lake. No Crawlers….6 am-2:30 pm. Notabite, touch, nip, breath on my stuff. Even my buddy, Rick whiffed. Humbling! Pepe says fishing was “ le Pew”.

I love those little cranks. They work at every lake I've used them in. Congrats!

Did way better than me Vinny. I got 4 but they were all little carbon copies of this. Always great seeing you out there and chatting.

El Cap (2/7)

I was out of town last weekend on a snowboarding trip, which made it the first weekend in some time that I didn’t fish, so I was stoked to get out at Cap today. I got on the water at about 6:30AM and made a few casts with various crankbaits, but to no avail. Made a long kick/row to an area I’ve been ...

Cap 02-07 and 02-08

It’s pretty fun down there right now if you’re in a kayak or a float tube. Fish up shallow - everything I caught was in 8’ or less of water. Had most of my success on the Neko, seemed like there were quite a few on a moving bait bite early too. Saturday was better than Sunday. Water temp once the ...

Otay 2/8

Fun day at Otay yesterday. The weather was beautiful and the water temp was 58. My final count was 11, nothing huge, but fun anyway.

Most came on a jig, or Ned bait with a couple of underspin fish thrown in for fun. Basically I worked the banks and points all along between the boat launch down to ...

Back at it, local pond...

Been so long, I thought I might not remember how, but had a pretty good 45 min session...I really enjoy fishing, but catching is way better.

El Cap (2/13)

Got numbers on Cap today targeting bass in shallow water. I got on the water at about 6:30 and made my way across the lake to target fish hanging around rocks. I made a few casts into the shallows with a neko-rigged 4-inch senko on the way there and managed to get a fish to take, but lost it. Been ...

My Hodges Opener

1st time this back to my go to lake...I do love the pond, but the lake is so much more...

Got an on time start, long line at the iron ranger and to the water not long after first light. Threw a bunch of different stuff, spinnerbait, cranks, etc but the first one took almost an hour and I was ...

Tale of two days...

Here is a story that explains, to me at least, what fishing is all about. So, let me set it up...same lake (O'Neill) two consecutive days. Could not have been more different.

Day 1

Start with a cold morning, and casted about 3000 times in the first hour and snagged the tulles about 6 times, lost a ...

El Cap (2/22)

It was a beautiful day on the water at Cap this past Sunday. Sunny, about 74 degrees, and just a light to moderate breeze coming from the west in the afternoon. The bite seems to have slowed down a tick since last weekend, but I was still able to manage quite a few bites and 10 fish in the net. The ...
