Re: Welcome to SDFish Forums

Awesome - SDFISH is back!!

Like most, had no luck with the site for a bit, and just by luck today, I searched SDFISH, and there it was!!

Having been on the previous forum for so many years here in San Diego, I've made the escape to Kentucky and am presently in escrow on a 25-acre ranch with 3 ...

Re: How to create a new topic at sdfish.org ??

If you are having trouble , at the bottom of the forum index there is a support / admin section , I would try there first

Re: best fluoro on the market tests...

Very nice series of tests but it would have been great if there were an Excel file with results for data nerds like me.
Things I would have analyzed for:
1. Tensile strength which is breaking strength divided by cross sectional area. He looks at strength divided by diameter which is not a standard ...

So long San Diego bass fishing......sort of

Home pond picture.png So long San Diego bass fishing......sort of

Greetings all,

Having been a dedicated San Diego bass fisherman since the late '70s, I have finally escaped the beautiful Southern California weather for country life in Western Kentucky. We were able to close on a 25-acre, 4 ...

Re: So long San Diego bass fishing......sort of

Excellent! we should have a "fishing in other locales" sub forum for people who went fishing on vacation to other regions and states, and ex-patriots who would still like to actively participate in the fishing report side of the forum. :)

Re: A-Rigs

I have had good runs with them fishing past cover when that is right, but not on windy points like you are supposed to. I have never done well with a- rigs in "open" water or seen anyone who has as you see on youtube. That doesn't mean people are not killing it like that locally. I suppose it would ...

Re: A-Rigs

I fish them a lot. This is all based on my opinion and results…Speed varies per a rig. The slower the better. I use the biggest phenix crank rod they make which makes a huge difference in casting and hook up. Control the landing on the cast so they don’t turn over and tangle. With a long cast, about ...

Re: A-Rigs

That's a lot of bells and whistles in one rig! I can't imagine losing it, that would be a disaster.

Re: A-Rigs

Can’t really fish it too fast, especially in warmer water. I fish straight braid around heavy cover. Might get fewer bites but I can bend a hook out and not lost $30 when it snags a stump. I’ve fished them a lot. Caught a lot of catfish on em at El cap. Imagine having drag ripped on the strike, only ...

If your goal is to catch one 4llbs or bigger, an a-rig is as good an option as any out there

Poaching

What has been the most egregious example of poaching that you have seen that you just had to call Cal Tip?

I saw a good one today.

I showed up to the local pond today, and saw a guy doing the following:

1. Using TWO hoop nets. He was baiting the nets with cut up bluegill.

2. Using a throw net as ...

Re: Poaching

DarkShadow,

Times have changed. Who fears getting caught or even tried for an offense. There is no fear for the law or regulations. He’ll get a slap on the hand and told to stop. It’s hard to not make this political.

One reason why it was time to leave.

In 2013 4 guys got caught poaching a thousand fish at Cayon Lake in Riverside County, got no jail time, slight fine, and a little probation

Re: Poaching

I suspect as times and the general economy get tougher, more and more people will resort to poaching of both fish and game, especially those who don't know anything about regulations and the law in America.
