Re: Tiny jig has been killing it at Murray.
Keitech makes some pretty good finesse jigs. I wish they made a bulkier jig, because even the 1/2 ounce models seem to be a morsel compared to other jigs out there that look like mops.

Re: San V 2/18 Bees, busters and Bassholes!
Good thing you managed a good day regardless of people being inconsiderate and thinking the world revolves around them.
This phenomenon just isn't happening with bass boaters on the water.
I call it the "Cartman-ization of Society."

Re: Native Rainbow Trout
Actually most "wild trout" in SoCal streams/creeks/rivers are genetically feral remnants of fish stocked years/decades ago. There are only a couple waters with genetically identifiable southern DPS "steelhead" genetics and they are closed to fishing without any public access.
I saw that the new ...

Re: Native Rainbow Trout
There have been a few exceptions (like Piru Creek downstream from Frenchman's Flat) where the fish I caught were really washed and and silver.
But for the most part, all the wild fish in our watersheds in SoCal are beautifully colored, still sporting their par marks that I don't think they'll ever ...

Re: SHARE returns to the Big B
I doubt that I will volunteer my money in the future. I don't mind losing $14, I mind that they don't respect our donation enough to at least let us know we lost. I have been "ghosted" by CDFW.
The draw results are pretty easy to find posted on their website.

Re: SHARE returns to the Big B
To the 1 of 4 individuals who could not fish on Saturday after Friday's cancellation and rescheduling, THANK YOU!
I now am part of the 8 boats that will be fishing on Saturday, after 4 of Friday's slots were moved to Saturday due to inclement weather.
Anybody fish it this time of year? I ...

Re: SHARE returns to the Big B
Saturday was pretty excellent. It was one of those, 'pick your favorite bait' and go at it.
I will say though, that after speaking to most of the guys there, there were a few that got both numbers and size.

Re: SHARE returns to the Big B
I got Hauser, which I didn't mind since I knew it a little bit better than Pine.
Had about 50 or so fish, not counting the dinks that were a pound or less. Very impressed at the average size. Quite a few of those were 3 to 4 pounds. If I hadn't had to race to the DFW gentleman once I had 3 or 4 ...

Re: Got a Rez…No Idea What Day It’s For 🤷♂️
I love how Tickemaster had like 8 different "Barrett Lake Tickets" links to choose from, none indicating the date. At 7:00 pm, I clicked on the 2nd link, thinking the first link would be for Wednesday, and I ended up being routed to the float tube/shore tickets.

Re: Spawn on?
When I fished it a week ago, there were fish in all stages.
Some were hard locked on beds, some were wandering the shallows with a mate.
Some were just making their nests, and some were guarding nests.
Water temp was in the low 60s, FWIW.

Re: Spawn on?
You fished it ? Did you have to use their boats ? How was the fishing ? That's awesome you get to fish early I might add . I bass fish alot wondering what you like to use at Barrett ? Did you catch anything with size ? Sorry about all the questions if I never ask anything I don't learn .

Re: Barrett opener kayak report
Sweet! I'm glad to see the topwater bite turned on. Looks like a good day out there.
When i fished with the SHARE program, the only busting fish were extremely small, as was the bait they were feeding on. I left those fish alone for better quality.

Re: Barrett Opener boat report
Just keep moving when you can't find fish. They are there in bunches. A 10 fish day can quickly turn in a 30 fish day in a short time.
And don't be afraid to fish that 20 foot range, and don't let the runts in the shallows eating anything they can fit in their mouth make you lose focus on the ...

Re: May 4
Sounds like a good day out there!
I fell you about the being tired AF after a few hours of yanking fish outta that lake. Back in my younger days, it'd be an all day thing, getting back to the dock 10 minutes before closing. I would wake up the next day ready to go for Round 2.

Re: Number of Fish Caught and Time
Many people have mentioned that the best time to catch fish at Barrett is from opening to closing.
The first hour of the day, you have a lot of variables in your favor, which makes the catching easier. If fish are busting, you've already located them, which is half the battle.

Re: Barrett lake emergency kit

I prefer just taking some bananas on board. Helps with the fish counts and cramps.
