Let's say a jetty is accessible to the public from a certain point.
If you navigate the jetty below the high water/tide line, can you fish the entire jetty even though above it may be private property?
I thought that California law said that you can't own the water. You can only own the land ...

Re: Pacific Beach 8/3
... get back at it!
No pun intended! :-D
Back spasms suck. I used to suffer from 'em years ago since I was diagnosed with DDD (Degenerative Disk Disease) and I'd be out for days unable to even walk. No amount of Flexeril would help.
Glad you got back out! Sucks about having to navigate ...

Burn Out?
Anybody ever get tired of one particular type of fishing so much they take up an entirely new type?
About a dozen years ago, I was fishing A Not So Secret Lake almost every weekend, and we'd have triple digit fish days most of the time from shore. Yeah, they were your cookie cutter 2 pound bass ...

Re: 2026 Barrett poll/ideas?
The poll question is:
Would we like the season tickets ALL sold in April? Yes there will be limits as to what can be sold to individuals, lots of details to be worked out.
Yes
No
TommyP
Imagine the poor server crashing in April when ALL tickets are sold at once.

Re: 8/11-Murray Micro fun?
I know the common consensus of the YouTube pros is mono or braid if it floats, and flouro if it suspends or sinks.
I've got a buddy that fishes the local pond with me and is full steam ahead with the BFS. But, what I've noticed, that in open water with baits with trebles, he is golden! Rarely ...

That looks exactly how my buddy does it. Just drag all the grass with 'em. Makes 'em look bigger.Dannicus wrote: Tue Aug 12, 2025 6:00 pm Oh and who said BFS won't work in grass and cover?IMG_20250812_142111741_AE.jpg

Re: New tube ordered!
Bladderless? Does that mean that it's permanently 'inflated?'
No it means it is built like a white water raft. No insert bladders which are covered by a nylon case zipped around them. Like a modern tire on a car...no inner tube.
Gotcha!
Float tubes have come along way since my POS ...

Re: Skin Cancer **kind of graphic**
About 20 years ago, I began wearing sun gaiters/face shields because I found myself in sunny conditions a lot, and sun screen on the face was a losing proposition as it had to be constantly reapplied and sun screen in the eyes is as fun as a kick to the balls. At the same time, I had adopted SPF ...

I catch 'em accidentally while fishing for other stuff. Whenever I try to target them specifically, I catch nothing.

The Same Ole Pond
I rolled into the pond parking lot at 5:30, which was about thirty minutes later than planned. The dreaded pre-fishing Costco run got me, and if you’ve ever tried to get in and out of a Costco parking lot, it is harder than sticking a wet noodle up a wild cat's ass.

The Jewel of California
We hit up DVL last Saturday. After dragging a trolling motor and heavy lead battery down the launch ramp, we got on our rental and proceeded to have a ball.

Re: High end Bass gear in Salt?
I have a dedicated outfit. It doubles as my 'beater' or the combo I lend out to people in the fresh, and is essentially high end bass stuff from yesteryear.
It's not that I don't have a problem using my high end gear, even those with Magnesium parts...
Buuuuuut I'd rather not.

Re: $2 fee
Agree, it is much easier to charge by the vessel than by the number of passengers. Similarly, parking is charged by the vehicle, toll roads charge by the vehicle, car registration is charged by the car and not by the number of passengers.

2025 Wrap Up
We were crawling back home north on the 5, tail between our legs, dodging the usual San Diego Driving Academy graduates. You know the ones. Dudes trailering boats in the fast lane, brake-checkers, and guys doing 40 while FaceTiming and eating Carne Asada Fries. We were heading back from San Vicente ...
