1st day out in awhile.. Beautiful day at Bolsa Chica .. Scrounged 3 sand crabs  and figured I would use freeze/dried bloodworms, Since my local bait shop had no fresh bait… I got one dink perch on one of the sand crabs, and nothing else for awhile… Then the switch turned on about an hour ...

Surf City=Slab City?
Started the day by finding only 2 sand crabs, so I went with the old stand by.... Dried, frozen blood worms... I first tried Seal Beach for no bites on the SCs or BWs.. After wasting a couple of hours there, I made a run to Huntington Beach... Good choice... After a few misfires with 2 dinky BSP, I ...

Mission Bay 12/04
6:30 to 9:30. Caught 11 perch. All good size. They were hitting the bait hard today. All around 11 to 13 inches. I cast out my bait and noticed I had a wind knot. So as I was untangling it all I could think about was my leader getting tangled. Then a Perch took my bait. So I was on tangling my line ...

Mission Beach 12/14
Fished the outgoing tide at Mission Beach from 6:30 until about 9:00am. Really calm surf, but also a little breezy. Overcast, cool weather. The water was very clean, though, which is always nice!
The bite was slower than Saturday. I caught a couple on my first two casts within 15 minutes of ...

Re: Mission Beach 12/13
Just a thought. When I was growing up we had a strip of ivy growing next to the street. It was full of Snails. I would gather up those maybe 20-30 at a time in the early morning. My Mom Froze them and when we went Surf Fishing, which was often, we would cut them in half with scissors and hook it ...

Re: Lobster Question
Best way to do it is to keep it in a damp cooler with maybe some wet towels or over seaweed. As long as they're kept in a cool, dry place and don't dry out or are kept submerged in water (where they will suck up the O2 and suffocate) they will be fine for a couple days. An easy way to prepare them ...

Re: Lobster Question
Yes, it's important to keep lobsters alive until you're ready to cook them to ensure they stay fresh. After catching them, transport the lobsters in a cooler with damp towels or seaweed to keep them moist and cool, but not submerged in fresh water or directly on ice. During the long drive home ...

Creek Wade 6/13
Decided to wade a local creek, and was able to pick up several sunfish although the bass wouldn't cooperate. Was using an olive beadhead bird of prey from tfs that has worked well in the past for pretty much everything, although as of late it hasn't worked the same. My guess is the continued cold ...

Mammoth Lakes fun!
If you like stripping streamers in shallow water, now's the time up here! I've picked up 42 fish in 2 days, ranging from 12" to 23". I'm fishing the flats in the back of Lake Mary, mostly stripping black leaches with a flashback hares ear trailer. 11 of the fish were between 20"-23" and caught in 2 ...

AZ Gila Trout
Recently moved to Flagstaff AZ from San Diego, and I figured y'all would find this interesting. I have been fishing Oak Creek Canyon heavily, catching wild browns, stocked rainbows, and native Gila trout. The Gilas seem to love dries, especially hopper reaction bites when the fly hits the water ...
