Hi, and welcome. Wanted to share so you can benefit from the errors of my ways on a recent 2-day trip on the Pacifica, a boat I very much enjoyed. The tuna caught were mostly schoolies in the 25-pound range with a few north of 70lbs. We finished with something like 79 BFT and 21 YFT.

I got 5 bluefin and 1 yellowfin on the San Diego july 4th. Fishing 40# flouro, #1 owner j hook, 100 feet or so of 40# mono on top of 65# braid. Drag set on strike with a 10lb dumbbell … they barely even pulled drag. Fresh bait was the key like others said. They bit 40 lb just as good as anything ...

So I butterflied out a dorado to cook for my family's early labor day party. It's not a true zarrandeado since I didn't do it over hot coals but 45 min on the smoker and a few on the grill for some color does the trick.

Howdy there, forgot to post this trip. 4 days of bluefin hunting, no biters during the daytime really, some dorado but once we left the point we stayed north between the banks and San Clemente. Got out offshore today on the San Diego. 2 stop shop more or less. First stop hooked up 1 and lost in a tangle. Second stop went 4 for 4. First 2 yellowfin on 40# and medium large sardine, second 2 on 25lb and small sardine. Beautiful grade fish 30 lb class for the most part. Felt ...

Did a charter on the Tribute on Oct 1st. Flat calm ocean...Found a pod of yellow fin and had pretty much wide open bite for about 4 hours straight. Fish from 25 to about 50 pounds. No love on the blue fin night bite but we grinded it out all night...Then we found the yellow fin a little later the ...

Sounds like a really fun trip with your Son.. And instead of a 1 dinner out, you get many nice dinners with that haul...

Got out on our BW charter on the Tribute on the 18th for a 2 day....Water was rough to say the least. Battled through it fished hard for little prize. But did get to see the tax man collect on our hard fought gains. See Tribute Sportfishing Instagram for the whole video.

Went out on a charter Friday on the Fury. Destination SCI. Rough crossing and woke up outside of Wilson cove for a full in bid whitefish bite..(on seabass spot)..The Featured guests Seabass and Yellowtail were no shows to our party, but plenty of nice calicos, sheephead,whitefish for all. Have caught a few dinks in the surf recently. Nothing impressive at all. But today one short hali maybe 20” spit up this thing which i learned is a queenfish. Pretty cool

Walked down to a favorite beach spot to fish a weighted weedless swimbait (shown) along the sand/rock shoreline here, with much smaller surf today.

The recent south swells have migrated tons of sand north on my beach, and have unburied the local acres of eel grass - which is all dead and drifting ...

The water is starting to warm up ;)
