Dec.15-Return to River…oh yeah!
Back for another quick river session as I decided to try something different after catching nothing but dinks over at Murray. I mean I have worked hard and only been ending up with small bass. Anyway....after tons of casts into the green strained water of the SD River and time flying by, I finally ...

12-29-25 - Christmas comes a few days late!
Hey all. Been awhile since I posted a report and today provided the perfect occasion.
Woke up a bit later than I planned. Was concerned about the wind advisory but the forecast said 5-10MPH so I said F it and decided to go join Pourboy at El Cap.
It was cold as a witches teat when I launched ...

Building back up…
Over the last week or so, I’ve been mentally prepping for some more freshwater fishing. I spent most of the summer in the salt, and after a few months away from my local ponds my confidence was really lacking. I also had a tough time justifying the extra drive time to hit freshwater when I had the ...

Tale of two days...
Here is a story that explains, to me at least, what fishing is all about. So, let me set it up...same lake (O'Neill) two consecutive days. Could not have been more different.
Day 1
Start with a cold morning, and casted about 3000 times in the first hour and snagged the tulles about 6 times, lost a ...

Grandkids at Murray
Took a trip to Murray with the grandkids. They love to fish and look at the fish in the live well. In 1 of the pics you can see they built a fort at the drivers seat and dash. So I used the trolling to get us around. To much fun.

4/14- SD River gives & takes
Made a late morning trip to the SD River. Did the usual things as I tossed reaction baits first. Tried about 5 different types of baits and then while tossing a mini-A rig, a nice bass slammed into it which was fun. I later missed a bass bite deep in the cover with a creature bait. Then the real ...

4/23-Thanks Dad
Today would have been my father's birthday so I kept to a tradition to go fishing today in his honor. I was so fortunate as a kid growing up as my father took me fishing almost every weekend. I always remember being so excited that I would wake up an hour or two early and could not go back to sleep ...

5/28- SD River...Oh yeah!
Having a lot of things I need to talk care of, I decided I better get in one more fishing trip this morning. I was thinking of turning to
Murray, but decided to hit the SD river this morning. Again, I never seem to get anywhere early as it was about 7:45 when I finally got on
the water. Did not ...

Lake Hemet
I went to Lake Hemet yesterday with my son. We threw night crawlers and power bait deep. At the same time fished around with gold and chrome Kastmasters for about four hours. Not a sniff.

PB Trout
Went out last weekend to Santa Ana River Lakes and got this beast on hook up bait. I don’t really fish for them and this beat my previous PB by 6lbs. It weighed 8.32lbs. Super fun catch on 2lb test!

5/10-Murray Cat
While fishing for bass at Lake Murray, this cat decided my underspin looked like something good to eat. I wanted to get a
pic or two and get it back in the water. I should have took my time as it was not easy to hold up with one hand for a pic and

Fat Bluegill, San Vicente ... again? May 21
It's officially a pattern at this point! :D
Really fun panfishing again today and upped gear to 6 lb. braid with 6 lb. leader, found the fish in the same areas. Targeting around 15 to 18 feet deep on nightcrawlers at the outer edge of the brushlines, similar to Friday's catch but added a fat 2.2 ...
