Best day of the year so far at Murray. Caught a dozen fish, and all but two of them were over 2 pounds. Plus three nice ones, a 3.2 pounder, a 3.7 pounder and a 4.3 pounder.
It isn't the most fish I've caught at Murray this year but definitely the most quality. All on BFS gear.

First ever!
Spent the first 3 weeks of vacation camped at Cottonwood AZ. Took day trips to the Grand Canyon, Tuzigoot, Montezuma Castle and all the surrounding monuments and towns. I never did locate a good spot to launch my tube so I didn't fish for 3 weeks.

7/8 Miramar DD
Had a great day at Miramar yesterday. My buddy and I ended up with 30 fish total with a 4 and a 3.15# which we were pretty happy about. We lost 3 more that jumped at least once and were in that weight class. Also had a double hook-up which is always awesome! I can't remember a time when these fish ...

6/13- Murray
Just a pic of my third cat I have caught while fishing for bass at Lake Murray. This one gobbled up a brush hog. It took about 20 seconds
as I was thinking it was a nice bass, but soon realized it was probably a cat. This was the smallest of the 3 and weighed 6.75lbs.

Re: 6/13- Murray
Hey Vinny! Great catch. I've seen your other posts and wanted to ask what kind of set up do you have for your rig? I haven't gone cat fishing in awhile and it's only been at Poway where I always get skunked.
Any tips you can share for going to Lake Murray? Especially for a first timer? Would love ...

Re: 6/13- Murray
I posted a map(above)of where I caught two of those catfish and I also caught one and the same area last year. I thought I mentioned what I cut them on, but they were all caught on bass baits. If I was fishing for catfish, I would be using mackerel or liver or some type of catfish stink bait. Anyway ...

7-28 Not Hot but Steady!
Fished shallow just below the bridge from 6:30 til 10 and picked up 16 on the minnow pinned on a 3/16oz ball jig. 15 feisty spotties and one baby butt. Tons of short bites so not sure they were totally on the chew. The breeze came on just as forecasted about 10am.

Re: Redemption... sort of.
That's fishing. You can feel like you really understand something and then it's all blanks. Nice job getting through and catching fish. Looking forward to getting out there with you.

Re: 7-28 Not Hot but Steady!
Sometimes I wonder if launching my boat at Glorietta and trying to find parking is worse than launching at Shelter Island and motoring all the way up to the bridge. I hate going over or getting stuck on that bridge towing my boat with traffic. What are your thoughts.
We usually launch at the ...

Re: First Fish
Hard to beat that setup for numbers, I'm surprised no one caught a halibut.
side note:
careful with the regs, I believe most of the back bay is closed to boat based angling and only shore fishing is allowed east of the big bridge. always was frustrating not to be able to make a cast until getting ...
