Long time lurker, first time poster. Recently got into surf fishing as the tuna season is too far away and im antsy. First croaker ever, hit a strip of sand crab fishbites just after low tide. I'm hooked...

Kayak 2.5 Suzuki / Spot lock mod.
I had fun with this, It's ok to say it's stupid or I should just get a boat or whatever. Maybe it gives some ideas. LOL.
There is an alternate full-length outrigger setup I made and this is not the final adjustment on this one.
About 6 miles an hour is what it will do. I had it out on the bay in ...

I like the engineering on this setup with the full outrigger, thanks for sharing that. I have some thinking to do now.

New Outcast Super Fat Cat with Blue Robotics Thrusters
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsmDx9C8-s4
Good morning all!
I have been wanting to do this video for a long time and have had lots of people ask me to do it. Last week I finally purchased my first new float tube in over 19 years. I had (and still have 2) Outcast Super Fat Cat tubes that I ...

Re: If Could Only Bring Three Baits…
Ain’t no bass man alive that will settle for just 3 baits… Or rods….Or reels… Or maybe even boats.. You guys are worse than fly guys.. No such thing as getting by with 3 of anything… 😉… Now us surf guys can do it with just 1 bait.. Sand crabs…. Well maybe bloodworms… And maybe ghost shrimp… and we ...

Re: First time at Barrett Lake help.
Happy that I helped you, there's a lot of people on this site that have helped me, and I'm sure can add to what I said.
I do think you can get there at 0700 and get a boat, I'd suggest to get there earlier though, since one of the best times to be there is early morning. It's not just the bite, it ...

Barrett Report July 27
Here's the update on 27 July. Got there at the usual time. Met a few of the usual suspects and we all headed out. Met one of the people on this site and had a nice chat. It was nice to meet you Steve. Warm at 0430 and the water was 79F. Very light and pleasant wind. Becky's cove has been busy lately ...

Barrett Report August 3
Hello all,
Well it was a toasty day on the lake yesterday. Reasonable at predawn of 70F. Unreasonable at a little after lunch at 107F in my truck, cooled down to 99F driving. At 0430 water temp was 78F. Without a moon, it was pretty dark at that time and the sun isn't really doing much until about ...

Barrett Report August 21
Got out on the water at the usual time with Chuck and Steve. Water was a little cooler at 77F, it warmed to 81F by the time I left. Air was warm and a slight breeze. I think we can all start sleeping in, since it seems like very little happens in the dark, which it is until almost 0600.

Fishing for Quality 9-1
After consulting the regulars and reports, the plan was to go deeper for more quality over quantity today. Brought my floating Garmin Striker to watch our depths and it definitely seemed like the fish in 15-20 were better. The calm glassy morning in Pine kicked out nice ones mostly on 4” senkos. My ...

Barrett Report September 7
Got out a little later today, since the bite in the dark hasn't been that strong and sleeping in seems like a good thing. Air was 74F, Water was 78F. Light wind coming easterly. Played about in Wilson's creek and didn't have much topwater success. Managed to lose a pompadour lure though. That's two ...

Re: Barrett Report September 7
I need to see proof that you didn’t melt. Just kidding …nice job out there. Just the fact that you’re out there fishing in this type of weather proves you’re a bass fishing stud. I was once like you, but now if it’s gonna be hot, even if I go early, just knowing that I have to leave really early ...

Re: Barrett Report September 7
My best five in one day at Barrett (over 27lbs.) were all on the jig, with a paca chunk trailer. I haven’t been once this year but I’m planning on hitting it before it closes for the season. Can anyone please tell me if there are boats available without a reservation or do I need to go thru ...

Re: Lizard time
Nice report and it was so funny when you cast the lizard in the middle of the lake, announcing that it was the most unlikely place to get a fish and then your pole bent over and you got that fatty in the first picture. It was a fun day yesterday. It was also pretty cool to watch that osprey nail ...
