MB 7/6
My wife and I ventured out of the bay for the first time in a very long time this morning. It was froggy with some decent swell. After about 2 hrs of trolling/jigging and one small calico to show for it, we decided to try our luck with the spotties. Didn’t dawn on me that this is the busiest weekend ...

Nice looking fish! I’ve got what you had right now. Mixed with this heat and humidity been feeling miserable the last few days.

Re: Dixon Lake - Nothing Great - Just to Let You Know We Ain't Dead Yet
Not sure if you knew, but that pier you’re fishing from is where the largest documented largemouth bass ever was caught. They even named her “Dottie” for an identifiable mark on her jaw. The fish was supposedly “accidentally” snagged a number of years ago by a big bass angler who was bed fishing. If ...

Re: Roncador's 2024 fishing slide show
Once you find a good skipper, stick with him! Great job on the big wahoo with no leader too. My one and only wahoo came in similar fashion. Live mackerel and no wire. Deckhand was telling me the whole time I was going to lose it. When the fish hit the deck the hook literally fell out of its mouth.

Coronado 10/12
The Mrs. and I took out the new raft for the first time on Saturday. Steady action all morning on crankbaits and blade baits. We ended up with 30 fish which is pretty darn good for us. I’m going to be adding nav lights soon. I have a couple buddies at work that love to shore pound the bay at night ...

Re: Coronado 10/12
I try to use baits that get to the 8-10ft range. I know there are times when I could get better numbers on smaller plastics but the bite on the crank is my favorite.

Thanks! This is my third Saturn. If you keep them out of the sun when not in use they will last for many years.JWall wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2024 9:18 am Nice looking raft there! Am toying with the idea of a Sea Eagle 2 person for Barrett and Sierra lakes. I have an aluminum bass boat but there’s times when it’s not possible or practical.

Re: 10/25-Not Lake Murray
Most bass guys on here seem to be strictly fresh or strictly saltwater anglers with a few exceptions (Fishtricks, Pourboy). Have you ever considered mixing it up down in the bay? Also, did you finally lose your Ranger hat?

Re: 10/25-Not Lake Murray
I knew it! LMB fishing in our local waters is certainly more challenging than bay fishing on most days. I appreciate those that have the patience and knowledge to reap the rewards. Spotties do have sharper teeth though!

South Bay 11/16
Hadn’t gotten the kids out in a while. First time for my youngest casting and hooking her own fish, pretty awesome. Mommy got a surprise slimer, that was cool. Also brought the trout rod to target smelt for something different, got a handful on the Roostertail. Fun times.

Re: Mission Bay Fishing: Bass, Barracuda and Halibut
Nice to see an MB report. Thinking about going next weekend just to mix it up. BTW, what was that creature under the bridge? Turtle?
