Re: El Cap 5/25

Appreciate the report…Heading out in the am. Have jigs and plastics as part of the plan with some reaction/chase. Seems like a few of the lakes have switched to the latter now that the spawn is done and the fish are hangry!! 👍🤞

El Cap Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Headed out with the girl about 5:30 and plenty of boats had already launched. Ramp is darn close to its end but ok for another day, week, maybe two. @Moose was right on from yesterday, fish are on the chew. Saw that topwater shad trapped against the shore right away. We had stopped just shy of where ...

Re: El Cap Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Thanks Maestro! It was a bit crowded, especially now that the lake is a mere pond 😉

Re: El cap

No shame whatsoever in mechanical issues. We’ve all had them. Nice catches in the meantime!

Re: 5/25 report and mystery solved

Great full day out there!! On your line break…I personally doubt the fish bit through your line. Not a bass anyway. My guess is there was a nick in it right above the knot from an earlier catch. Nicks can happen from wood or rocks pretty easily and you don't realize it. Check the first foot or two ...

Re: Surprise catch at the Murr 5/27

Thanks Vinny. Today Otay, tomorrow one last day at Murray, then it's off to Arizona for a month on vacation. I'll let you guys know how the fishing is. First up will be the Verde Valley river, which runs right through our RV resort.

If you have a month and are so inclined, Alamo is another ...

Re: 5/25 report and mystery solved

Hey John! Damaged line makes sense. I never check it, and as another poster mentioned, I should have a look at the knots too. I’ve been breaking off A LOT this year and besides losing fish I hate to think about the other impacts. Btw, I tie my leader to lures with the Rapala knot. What knot do you ...

Quick Saturday AM Report, Beat the Lightening ⚡️

The girl and I were lines in a hair before 6 and the bite was on. We fished the rocks in Hauser from the bank out to 15-20 and got bit in all depths. I fished 1/4 to 3/8 pumpkin jigs with summer craw trailers, 7” margarita mutilators, and swimming minnows. Got one on a magic craw chatterbait tipped ...

Re: California Boater Card

Finally, after 1 or 2 hours each weekend, and 2 months later, I have completed my boater card courses and final exam. I missed only 1 question regarding the light color for full access in a lock. The answer is "amber", i knew this but answered green. I looked it up and the internet is saying green ...

Re: California Boater Card

If they required the boater safety card from people who rent boats, it would make it sort of tough for by visiting tourists from other states and countries to be able to rent a boat unless there was some quick onsite test that they could take and pass to do so.

Re: Seaguar fluro

Dfishin wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 8:52 am seaguar fluro it's a good line, but I use P line. It is a little softer then P line and breaks and frays easier also. I have tested for breaking strength and knot strength. P line was better in my testing. It's up to you.
Are you using P-line Tactical?

Re: Barrett 6/7

Great shot of the dad/son! Those boats are definitely harder to control in the wind, even with a trolling motor mounted on the bow. My guess on the fishing is the post-spawn funk before they go on the chew to fatten back up. Going next Sunday to find out.

Re: July Tickets

I wonder if the profit margin for Wednesdays during the hot months no longer are acceptable enough to keep it open during that time.

I thought I read here that Wednesdays during those months you can practically walk in and get a ticket at the gate.

Re: July Tickets

A lot these lakes around here weren’t open to the public for a very very long time. Wouldn’t be surprised if that happens again. It’s all about the alphabet club, making our streets sexy and other related crap. I never knew potholes were sexy.

Was thinking the same thing…seems like we are ...
