Hodges May 19th

Quick morning session on the float tube at Hodges on Sunday. Ended up with five on the drop shot close to shore. Three of them in the same spot within minutes of each other which was nice after two hours of no bites. I’m guessing they were on spawning beds there, also indicated from their tails ...

I love reading and looking at posts from all the forum members here!
I rarely post but I thought this was worthy and also to celebrate my Dad who recently passed!
He loved to see pictures of the fish I caught from salt or fresh waters!
I can't send him ...

Re: Bitter Sweet Day at Hodges 5/18

My Pops was my Fishing Partner and Friend. It is hard to lose both. The things he taught me about the intricacies of Bass Fishing were endless. The Man could fish! He taught me that you can improve yourself your whole life. I miss him so much.

Re: Bitter Sweet Day at Hodges 5/18

I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my father this past Sept. 11th ( another reason to remember that day). Always loved being able to share pictures and stories with him. Definitely feel his presence still, as I’m sure you will too. Congrats on the big girl!!

Re: Culling others for bass.

A ten inch Bluegill is a good meal for a larger Bass. They suck them right down. That is the food source for larger Bass.

Re: Culling others for bass.

I saw a nearly 5 lb bass in lake mittry with a close to 3-4lb bass wedged head first in its mouth floating dead. That was wild. Bass are nuts. A big one would try and inhale that bluegill above. Just gotta be head first

poppers and crankbaits and jigs oh my! 6/25

I fished lake Murray this morning, and the water was so low that it was almost at the end of the boat ramp. On the plus side, I had the place almost all to myself (except for a few shore guys that arrived mid-morning).

There were a lot of bass busting early, but I couldn't get them to take my top ...

Throwing worms at The Captains Footballs 6/30

After an abysmal Saturday at Sutherland yesterday (a handful of dinks) I thought to redeem myself at El Capitan today. The topwater bite really never got going at either lake this weekend, at least where I was fishing.

It had been a minute since I'd worm fished, so I T-rigged a 7 inch fat Roboworm ...

Best way to catch bass

Hello everyone, I'm a rookie at fishing, I've been wondering what the best ways for catching a largemouth bass may be. I've caught one at Lake Martinez in Arizona on a pier using a simple hook and a worm, but it feels like that doesn't work for the ones out here. Been mainly using live bait and ...

Murray Giant on the underspin

Haven’t been on SDfish too much lately but I decided to post this catch. I was planning on taking out the kayak but didn’t want to go through the hassle of loading it up so instead, I went on the bank. I saw some fish busting so I decided to throw a small 2.8 Keitech on an underspin. I got caught on ...

Back to where I belong....

I finally got back to San V on my favorite day! Along with Murray, San V is probably where I've spent most of my years fishing...starting back in the 60s. I got to the lake at sunrise, headed out looking for some busters and soon found some on the main lake behind the island. They were spread out ...

Famine to Feast Otay 7/24

Well El Cap may have been a grind yesterday, but Otay was amazing today! I kinda lost count a little bit but my final total was somewhere between 50-60 bass and 1 Bluegill. Most of the bass were topwater with 15 or so coming as a combination of cranks, jerks and even a few worms.

It was awesome to ...

Re: Because yes

Looking good, never seen them prepared this way. Bass not tasting good is one of the wildest myths in fishing, I prefer them to crappie.

San V

Been hitting San V a few times. There has been a lot of silver sides. Hard baits get me the dinks. Plastics get me a verity of sizes. Managed to land a Kitty over 20lbs. There is 1 spot that has been producing skinny ones. Not sure what is wrong or happening to them.

Murray 9/6

The topwater bite went off for a couple of hours today at Murray. Pulled in 8, all of them looked about the same. Nothing huge but still a ton of fun.

On a side note, I threw numerous topwater baits; poppers, walking baits, and even a fluke, and the only thing I could get them to hit was a small ...
