Re: Best luck so far
Heck of a fish. Great table fare. Let us know how you prepare it.
I don’t have much experience cooking fish yet, so we kept it easy and made some fish tacos. My kids loved the whole experience! I can see why everyone raves about corvina. I’ll keep it a little simpler with the rest ...

Agua Hedionda Lagoon 11-26-25
I got there around 3PM which was mid tide. I used a Carolina rig with 1" curly tail grub. 6 calico bass (no keepers) on pumpkin red flake and 1 (not a keeper) on translucent yellow with red flake. 1 opaleye on tan with black and light blue flake. Saw no one else catch anything. Lots of weeds but ...

Re: South Bay Bite Wide Shut
Geez, with a title like that I was expecting to hear you say you got 4 or 5! I fished Saturday, murky water no current, slow for me as well. But then again my best days usually sound like others’ off days😉 I love my raft but I don’t like dock hopping, spend more time repositioning than fishing. Out ...

South SD Bay 12/04
Hit the south bay this morning and fished the big tide. Friend and I got about 70 spotties. Caught them on 1/4 and 3/8 jigheads and MC Swimbaits. Most fish came in less than 12 feet of water.

South Bay 12/6
Went out with the Mrs. this morning. Fished the area I should have fished last weekend after seeing a few promising posts this week. Bite was hot up to the slack tide, then wasted some time looking around. Came back to the south Cays area after a while for a steady pick. Clicker read 41 when we ...

Re: Finally Happened- South Bay
Thanks for the post! I was going to write my own but I will just add to this one. That was an epic day on the water and not even half of the fish we caught made my video. I can't wait to get out there again soon. Cheers!

South SD bay 12/17
Decided on a rare trip to the salt. Not my usual because I have so much tied up in my fresh water gear and the salt doesn't exactly play well with them. Still i figured a sh!t ton of thorough rinsing should take care of it for one trip.

Long time lurker, first time poster. Recently got into surf fishing as the tuna season is too far away and im antsy. First croaker ever, hit a strip of sand crab fishbites just after low tide. I'm hooked...

North Redondo Corbina
I found some soft shells at low tide today and converted 2 of them to these respectable corbina. Clear water, sunny skies and tons of fun!

PR perch in Oceanside
Sometimes I fish for "other than bass", and this morning was one of those times. Lots of little nibbles on Carolina rig with gulp sandworms (sandcrabs were all still tiny babies)...and then bang not a little nibble, she took it and went. Fun battle and landed yhe biggest surfperch i have ever seen ...

Quality Over Quantity - Mid Summer Surf Report
Sight-fishing between Blacks and Del Mar has been "excellent" this season, except for the whole catching part. This year is the first time I've seen spotfin tailing in the surf, but almost like a first-cast-curse, I've only been able to catch the first one I spotted (pun intended) in late May, using ...

Re: Oceanside pier
She just wanted to experience catching a fish because my other cunada caught a 17lb halibut at zuniga jetty at 3am on a jetty worm in my boat and told her it was exciting.

Thank you "jwacky" - Mussels worked great!
Hello all,
Had this entire week off, and decided to try "Jwacky's" suggestion for using mussel meat.
I bought a pack of frozen mussels from H-Mart.... What a WEEK!
I caught so many high quality fish! Slab perch, Giant smelt, and several BIG corbina.
I had 2 days with over 20 fish.

Re: Storing gulp baits
Pretty much any thing you use will leak after awhile if you are using it on the sand... Sand will destroy any seal you have and make the bait container leak... I use old prescription pill bottles, and after a couple of uses toss out in favor of a new one... They don't leak, a bottle will hold 1 pack ...

Barrett Lake May 7th report
Hi all,
Barrett is open for 2025 and it looks to be a promising season. Got on the water around 0500 and pedaled across the lake. Air temp was a chilly 50F, but the water was 62.5 F. First fish for me came 0517, Chuck had already gotten several by then on a jig. I was using a texas rig lizard and ...

5/25 report and mystery solved
Another great day on the water Sunday. Motoring out by 6, this time with a boat rental. We explored Pine Cove — haven’t been there for a while. Finally got some top water action going with my dad’s really old popper. I feel like I know what the action should be like now. Caught both large and small ...

Father’s Day 2025 and the Bass Were Gifting!
Got on the water at 4:45 and headed out on an absolutely perfect temp morning and lake surface. The bass were taking care of us fathers with a healthy bite until we left. Our usual rocky spots in Hauser were biting the pumpkin/pumpkin jigs hard, with us lipping 50 healthy models by 8am. Things ...
