Re: Outboards on aluminum boats?

You're obviously not supposed to bring your own outboard powered aluminum craft and add an extra boat to the lake. People have bent the meaning of "float tube/kayak" real far at this point. What a legitimate kayak can do has also changed a ton since the old days though. You can easily sink 20k into ...

Re: New to shore fishing and skunked for a week

In terms of the Rage Swimmer, I'd never throw bigger than the 3.25 from shore. In fact it's the only size I'd throw. My primary texas rig bay bait is the 3" Zman Minnowz just because they last forever, nothing special about the bait otherwise. I use a 3/16oz weight the vast majority of the time. I ...

6/24 SD Bay. Not quite Under the Bridge

Woke up to a beautiful day and wanted to be part of it. Plus I've been hitting Barrett hard and needed to look at a different kind of fish for a session.

Fished 1-5pm. Fishing was wide open until about 20 minutes before low tide and then picked up again starting about 40 minutes into the incoming ...

Re: Did you GUT hook a bass?

20 minutes is a real long video to not even do the thing on video. Through the gills and done in a couple seconds like gotfish said. Hemostats are more fish friendly, especially on smaller fish. The proper technique should be a poster on the billboard at Barrett.

Re: Did you GUT hook a bass?

You're almost certainly never gonna catch a bass at Barrett that needs to be fizzed or have a descending device used on it. Sometimes a fish just gets hooked/unhooked a little wrong and it can't be revived properly. Despite our best efforts, we do kill some fish. A bigger bass, bird or shorebound ...

I was wondering that... do the babies and adults hang out together? If there are a bunch of short ones, are there big ones too? Or do babies stay in different spots and big ones wander farther, or elsewhere?
They hang out together

7/2 Closer to Under the Bridge

With Barrett closed on the first Wednesday of the month, I needed a fix. Got to the bridge around 115 with about 3 hours until high tide. Started where it was wide open last time and spent an hour+ for 0 fish. Used the trolling motor for a slow controlled drift and got into a few fish out in ...

Re: Yahoo Parking

The inconsiderateness of people at Barrett is just next level this season. I don't know if it's like this at all freshwater fisheries now or specific to Barrett but it's exhausting.

The way people park and the way a huge portion of kayakers just roll up within literally spitting distance of your ...

Re: Yahoo Parking

3 cars once again lined up awkwardly parked on the bottom area to the point you'd nearly have to drive through the water to get past them (and cars had already parked past where the worst parked car was). I never park down there anyway but still just so inconsiderate of people.

And shout out to the ...

Re: 2026 Barrett poll/ideas?

Selling the season tickets all at once is not the way to go. Monthly works just fine and so does Ticketmaster. Absolutely no reason to fix what isn't broken.

Barrett pros and cons:

Pros:
The best bass fishing lake in the world for numbers.

Cons:
The price. $185 for one person to fish in a puddle ...

Re: Predictions for post-rain fishing?

Yeah, 2 flats at low speed is pretty wild. Someone in front of me seemed to have hit the same thing and pulled over right away. I didn't stop until I got out of the gate so I didn't get a look at what it was. It absolutely obliterated my front tire, might still be stuck in the rear. Won't know until ...

Re: Skin Cancer **kind of graphic**

+1 on protecting yourself everyone. I was diagnosed with Gorlin Syndrome 8-9 years ago which is a disease that basically guarantees the development of an abnormal amount of BCCs throughout one's life. Not ideal for someone who already spent their young life incinerating their skin.

I've had 15-20 ...
