IV Canal fishing( Video)

Sorry guys, I made this post last week in the wrong section. Anyways, I decided to throw it up again and say hello. Nice to know that this site exists as I was bummed when SDFish.com went away as it was a great tool for information and to connect with other anglers. ( I was Rescue ranger 905). Now ...

Re: San V report on 11/13/23

I hadn't thought about it, but you might be right, it could be a hybrid redear with a bluegill, because those grow pretty fast and are stocky.

That's a very nice bluegill. A pure 'coppernose'. The redear and hybrids have speckles on the lower half of the body and face. All types are shown ...

Re: El Cap 11.24

I think the City screwing with the water levels had a big influence on the fishing. San V probably was the most consistent fishing and had the most stable water levels. Sutherland and El Cap were really dependent on whether the City was messing with the water levels!

San V 2/5 Looking for Noah

After listening to the local news last night I headed out this morning half expecting to find Noah and his Ark out there to avoid the flooding!

Pretty sunrise this morning and only two other boats out when I launched and according to the worker at the ramp they left fairly early so I was, literally ...

Lake Hodges Opening Week 2024

Lake Hodges Opener 2024
https://youtu.be/F35SFcPAXTQ
Hey all, it’s that time of the year again! I am always excited to go to Lake Hodges, and this year was no exception. I had made a point to make sure that I got out there on opening day and battled the rain. It was challenging out there for sure ...

El Capitan 2/13/24

I usually fish Murray on weekdays because it is conveniently located by my kid's school. Murray, however, is closed the second Tuesday of every month so I ventured up to El Capitan.

It was an absolutely beautiful day. I ended up catching 4 smaller bass and this bruiser. The small bass were hitting ...

Re: C&R gone too far?

Basically says optimal harvest varies by water, but generally there's nothing wrong with keeping 12 to 14 inch bass within the limits, especially if they seem underfed / malnourished. Go easy on those guys putting a few of those average bass on their stringers because they're probably helping the ...

Re: C&R gone too far?

Back East we keep a limit of Bass and break out the BBQ and cook them for lunch then go out in the afternoon and catch Dinner. Best fish ever. The secret is to throw them on ice. Their delicate meat needs to be treated correctly. Leaving them in a Livewell all day ruins the meat. Catch and release ...

9/26-Where else…but Murray

Greeted with cool conditions in the morning at Murray.

Around 9:00, the bass were starting to chase shad across the surface. Mixed it up with lots of reaction type baits and bottomline the clones were on the chew. Fished for a while next to my buddy Larry as bass were ...

Re: Sept 19th...and a new lure for me

It's not bad right? It's really beautiful right out of the box, but the finish doesn't last as long as something like a Lucky Craft. Mine was pretty beat up but still catching them. The tungsten weights rattle great, and it both walks and darts really nicely.

The hooks that come on it are super ...

Re: Amazing Murray Story 12/27

Rapala Jigging Rap chrome/blue, 5/8 - 7/8 oz was extremely popular with the bass guys for years, many years ago. With live forward-facing sonar (FFS), its nuts. Bass fishing can be easier and faster than summer because they'll be all bunched up together in one spot on the shad schools. They can ...

El Capitan Feb 8 report

Hello all,

Well I always say a plan is a list of things that won't happen. Was thinking about going to Hodges but on the way, went to El Cap instead. It's a commitment, because it's an hour away versus 10 minutes.

It was a good move. Got out at about 0700, and the water was 54F with a light wind ...

3-9 Hodges
