Sept 19th...and a new lure for me
Hey all I wanted to share a new lure (for me at least) that I doubt most of you have ever heard of. At least those who do not BFS or ultralight fish. It accounted for over 30 topwater bass yesterday at Murray. Probably 15 were dinks with the rest being 2 lb clones... except...I did manage to pull in ...

Second best fish of the year 10/1
When I reordered a Tsurinoya Flicker 70 from Aliexpress (see my previous post about a new lure) it was so cheap I decided to pick up a couple of other lures as well including its little brother which came in at 50mm, (under 2 inches) and 3 grams.
After catching probably 2 dozen dinks (1 pound or ...

El Cap Sat 10/5
Been a minute since I had anything worth sharing. I’ve been hitting El Cap for the last few weeks and been killing the 6-10” bass! Shallow, 10-15ft, breaking fish, didn’t matter, almost everything I caught was still in diapers.
Two weeks ago I noticed that in the front of the lake the fish were ...

I'm so full of hope and dread I may have to stop fishing.
A few years ago COVID hit and I closed my business, sold my large 4 bedroom home, and decided to live out my retirement years free and easy in an RV. Since then I have fished an average of 4 days per week until...

Re: I'm so full of hope and dread I may have to stop fishing.
So sorry to hear of what you have been going through. Sometimes things in life at times just knock you down and it seems so hard
to get back up on your feet. It's not going to be easy and it is not fun by any means. I know you have that motivation in you just
like you do when you are out there ...

10/31-PB SD River bass
Decided to skip a trip to Murray and headed out to the SD river. Got there around 7:30 and there was even more surface area covered with a green film than last week. I imagine that with some good winter rains it will be able to flush out a lot of this yucky green water. On the positive side, after a ...

Re: Success at Otay!!!
Well no luck on the strolling baits at Murray, but to be fair I didn't give them a great try. I ran into some equipment issues and had to cut my morning really short lol
Hope your equipment issued gets fixed and those baits do look awesome!
And adding my 2 cents regarding Murray... if 10 ...

Otay 12/22
5 bass today at Otay. 4 of them were 1.5 to 3 lb clones and the largest went 5.4 lbs. All of them were on a chatterbait. I went to Otay arm to try hover strolling but there was really nothing going on there. None of the boats, yaks, or tubes reporting much success so I started working deeper ...

The redemption tour Otay 4/12
After back to back skunk sandwiches at Murray this week, I decided to go to Otay. Met up with CorsoEnthusiast and his brother bright and early.
My final count for the day was 14, with nearly half being over 3 and the biggest weighing 4.2. you know it's a pretty good day when a 2.5 pounder feels ...

Really fun morning out there. I ended with 8 (lost 3) and my brother, who was testing out his injured shoulder, caught 13. Lots of fun had all around!

March was good
Here's a few fish from the Santee Lakes in March. They were chewing the trick worm all spring. I'm taking a little break while all the bed fisherman take over the lakes.

Otay madness 4/16
Got on the water early and got to say hi to robert_smith as he was heading out too. After a few minutes Dfishin showed up and we hung out and fished together all morning.
It was a really productive day. I stopped counting at 20 fish but I'm guessing my total was over 30. I'm pretty sure Dave did ...

Jennings late report
Sorry for the late report but I was having some problems getting on SDFISH
Last Sunday my fish bud and I decided to go and check the repairs he had done on his boat, we didn’t think we would catch any bass because we’ve found the structure in the past to just eat up ours lures, but the main thing ...

Re: Jennings late report
Thanks JWall, I was leaning towards that very same one, I’m glad you’re liking it.
Curious if it’s easy to learn and do you use the side scan much, I told him we have to get the sidescan and I would chip in half $300
Thanks

El Capitan 4/19
Managed to pull 8 fatties out of The Captain today on BFS gear. Nothing under 2 and nothing over 3, but they were feisty.
I'll post a breakdown of baits I used in the BFS section for you other finesse guys if you are interested.

Cap on Friday 4/18
Well, we decided to get the boat wet again. Wanted to go to Cap at least one more time before the water is too low to launch. Per SD Lakes website, we are 4.5 feet from no launch. They report levels once a week, so I am sure it's closer to no launch that that. The lake is about 4-5 feet lower that ...
