Cold, soggy...worth it!

I should be use to this weather..the never ending winter! I'll start out by saying "Paul stole my fish"...! I started the day fishing that area, my secret spot, threw the same jerkbait as he did and when it didn't produce right off..I gave up on it! Ok, my mistake, but that fish had my name on it ...

LOL! Well not right behind! He had been there a few hours before. That particular point gets fished often.
Remember that 7 at Barrett that our buddy caught? The one with the faulty scale?

Big'un Hodges 4/28

Caught several clones and this behemoth at Hodges this morning. My scale sucks but definitely in the 8lb range. I debated on going to Otay today as it's much closer to me. I'm glad I chose to make the drive! It was great to see Pourboy out there too. Good times!

First time at El Cap

Well I have to say that I really liked my first trip to El Cap! Probably the nicest day weather wise in a long time and sometimes that means...not great fishing. But that was not the case. I don't have a boat (actually I do have a canoe, but that doesn't count) so I decided to hire a guide, what a ...

Re: Hodges report April 27

Update! After having some challenges both with recording and the video itself here is the video from that day! Great job Dave with the beautiful fish. His fish is right near the beginning of the video so you don't have to go too deep to see it. Cheers!

5/1-Tough morning/SD River

Being forgetful made my SD River fishing trip a little tougher this morning. Last night I sorted out a selection of crawbaits,
senkos, creature and a few other plastic worms in little ziplocks that were geared just for the SD river. This way I could travel light
as I have a tendency to bring way ...

5/9-Couple of Firsts at Murray

A couple recent trips to Murray resulted in a handful of small bass(McFish would be proud
as I gave in and used drop-shot) and a couple of nicer fish on reaction baits.
Anyway, I just wanted to share a few firsts of the year with you as today's trip produced my
first topwater bass of the year. Saw ...

Lake Henshaw Bass + Carp on the Fly (video)

Made the drive out to Henshaw yesterday to take advantage of the beautiful spring weather. Forecast for Warner Springs area said "A nice day for outdoor activities" so I had a feeling it was going to be good day! Arrived right when they opened at 8:00am and by the time I got my permits, pressure ...

Shocking day at the D. K.

Rumor has it that they just did some electroshocking to do a fish count at the lake..that might explain why the fish kind of seemed to be in a coma! I tried to get some topwater going early, but the fish weren't having it...I didn't see any surface action so I lost interest pretty fast. I switched ...

Re: Shocking day at the D. K.

Still a good day!
Shocking fish for counts. Is SD Water District starting to care again? What's next, they will start clipping fins again and asking for counts? Just kidding, any love for the lakes is good love=)

Re: Shocking day at the D. K.

Don't tell anyone, but I saw small bass chasing shad on the surface in the narrows! Shhhh!
All but my biggest, a 3.53 pounder, came on a small jerkbait. Also caught a crappie and a bluegill on the same bait.

Re: Shocking day at the D. K.

My Topwater bite has declined as we get into the middle of May. Still a lot of strikes, maybe less hookups and it ends earlier. The Jig bite is starting to take off. Lots of hits on the drop. More on the 20 second dead stick. Still a lot of healthy broad shouldered Bass to War with. I try to give ...

Finally some time off from tournaments....

I finally got some time off from fishing these kayak tournaments up here in Northern California..... I was able to find and dial in a pretty speical bite on my now Home pond. Weightless 5" Shad color senko dead sticking on the tops of boulders. Tops of the boulders would be in about 20ft. I found a ...

Lake Hodges: The Pattern Is Changing!

https://youtu.be/VSXS-VjaDkM?si=WeYIIFA89hrpOusc

Hey, all I hope fishing is treating you well. I headed out to Hodges twice this week each for just a few hours in the morning. Both days when I got there, the shad were busting up on shore with the birds having a frenzy right next to the Bass. The ...

Hodges May 19th

Quick morning session on the float tube at Hodges on Sunday. Ended up with five on the drop shot close to shore. Three of them in the same spot within minutes of each other which was nice after two hours of no bites. I’m guessing they were on spawning beds there, also indicated from their tails ...

Re: Culling others for bass.

Right, the bass that try to eat adult gills are the ones you find floating. It’s the small ones that get eaten. If big bluegills were regular meals for bass the fish at Barrett would be much healthier

Minnesota Madness 2024

Back here at Pelican Lake in northern Minnesota with my buddy Scott for our annual angling extravaganza. The first day started out cold and windy but the afternoon was nice along with the fishing. We got about 45 largemouths and smallmouths between us with most of them nice three pound chunks ...

6/13- Murray Madness

After driving up to find Murray closed on Tuesday, I decided to give it a go this morning.
Seeing that I already caught 2 big catfish in May fishing for bass, I somehow managed to catch another catfish that gobbled down my Texas rigged brush hog. I thought at first it was a nice bass for about 20 ...

San V

Been hitting San V a few times. There has been a lot of silver sides. Hard baits get me the dinks. Plastics get me a verity of sizes. Managed to land a Kitty over 20lbs. There is 1 spot that has been producing skinny ones. Not sure what is wrong or happening to them.
