San Vee

Post by 1Fishdude »

Went out to San Vee monday mainly to test out my motor after being fixed. I found the motor ran extremely well, but my fishing seemed to need the work now. I caught a couple pint sized dinks on d/s to avoid the skunk but I was throwing jigs all day or at least until it got to damn hot to fish. I have been having great success and love to throw finesse jigs with tungsten heads. You can literally feel everything on the bottom. But thats all i felt Monday was the bottom with no takers on the jigs. Dragged them hopped then swam them but the fish just said no to my offerings. Maybe I should have gone to El Cap where it seems to have a better jig bite. Off the water by noon.

I've just never felt that San V was a good jig lake! With all the rock and crawdads, you would think it would be, but I think the clear water effects the jig fishing! A dropshot in 15'-20' has always been way more productive for me! I've caught fish in springtime on jigs, but it was never my most productive pattern. El Cap and Sutherland are way better jig lakes!

Thanks Mcfish I have always valued your advice especially when it comes to San Vee. Everytime I catch a fish there I wonder how many times you caught the damn thing already. HEHEHEHEHE
