Mission Beach 1/25

Post by jwacky »

Nice morning at Mission Beach, fished the low tide from 6:30 until about 9:00. Not much current, clean water with almost no seaweed whatsoever. Waves just high enough to keep things moving in the sand.

Nothing of note (quality-wise) aside from 9-10 perch, but I was catching them at a pretty steady pace all morning with no real lulls in the action. Unlike last week’s parade of pregnant females, most that I was pulling in today were male. Almost all were medium size aside from one large female that was probably 10-11”.

Mussels were the preferred bait today. There were a couple of really large bites throughout the morning that I couldn’t land. All in all, lots of activity in the surf today.

It was! Water felt just a tick cooler than it’s been lately but that could be because the air has been a bit warmer so the contrast is flipped from the past few weeks.

Still quite a bit warmer than most of the country right now 😂
