Mission Beach 12/24

Post by jwacky »

I got out one last time before this storm rolls through but was already seeing some of the effects at Mission Beach this morning between 6:30-9:00.

Wind and strong currents to the north made fishing feel like a bit more of a chore than I’d like for it to be, but I did still manage to reel in four small to medium size perch early on. There was little to no action after about 7:30. Kelp floaters were here and there, but for the most part were avoidable. The current was so strong that they weren’t really lingering in any one spot for very long 😂

But just as the grass was quickly making its way up the coast, so too was my bait. It wouldn’t even take 30 seconds for a cast 45 degrees to my left and up in line with me to the right. Lugworms were the only thing to get any action as the mussels were being ignored today.

Good luck to anyone braving these conditions in the next few days!
