Mission Beach 12/20

Post by jwacky »

Looks like I was just a bit south of @Jteo this morning at Mission Beach and my experience was similar. Incoming tide, sporadic kelp floaters, and a current that was indeed ripping to the south. I was generally able to avoid the mess in the water other than one minor surgery that needed to be performed to retrieve a hook (from a ball of grass and kelp) about halfway through my morning.

Caught 7 perch between 6:30 - 8:30 but once the tide reached its peak, I was done. The perch were a bit bigger than they’ve been the past couple weeks but still smaller than they’ve been over the past month or so. One of them was big enough to bring home for lunch 🤤

Mussels and lugworms both worked equally well. I even had a nibble of mussel remain on the hook after one catch to which I added a small bit of lugworm, and this also caught a fish. Not as much bird activity today, and none of my releases turned into bird food.
