Dove or quail hunting?

Post by FishNdive »

I think there is usually some overlap between fishermen and hunters, we are "sportsmen" as people call us in other states. I have been wanting to try bird hunting and I think dove and quail seasons open sometime later in the year. Do any of you hunt? I am trying to get more information, I know a few people who have gone bird hunting in southern california and I am trying to go this year.

There are a few hunters here . I bird hunt . Dove season opener is usually Sept 1st no matter what day of the week . Other seasons start in October and run generally till late January . There is a lot of BLM and USFS areas including some CADFW lands in the county . Even more in the areas of Imperial county around the agriculture . Do your scouting before seasons if possible . There is good opportunity in So Cal . Arizona is another option if suits you . With a bit of homework you will do well .
