5/27- SD River
Talked to a buddy last night and he said the fishing at the river sucks lately, but stubborn me wanted to give it a try. Arrived kind of late morning and did not see one other fishermen. After 2 3/4 hours of not one bite, I can see why. Tried everything from jerk to crank baits, then even to topwater and then from spinnerbaits to under spins. I then flipped plastic worms and creature baits. I then tossed a Junebug colored craw bait over some stick-ups near the shore and was kind of daydreaming as the tap on the end of my line surprised me. I set the hook and landed a skunk breaker which is always a good thing no matter what size they are as he was not that big. I was ready to leave pretty quickly after that and got my only other bite and landed a micro bass on the same bait. Little guy must of sure been hungry and probably felt like a ton of bricks hit him when I set the hook...but he was fine. Pretty darn tough fishing, but still had fun

It was very tough at the river and to think I never really used any type of bait that was in the Junebug color until last year is funny. It just seemed like a weird color but lucky I threw one on today or I would’ve been skunked.robert_smith wrote: Tue May 27, 2025 3:18 pm Junebug craw always gets one or two there for ya usually a nice one maybe lack of rain didn’t flushed it out toxicity must b really high and oxygen low my guess what a bummer
