Float tubes are a convenient and affordable way to get on the water, and finally get to those fish that you can't reach from shore. Discuss float tubes, outfitting float tubes for fishing, and float tube fishing.

3 stars on the Meh-meter...

Post by Carpkiller »

Chose the afternoon sted morning.

Coronado side of bay.

Pros: calm weather, rode the tail end of the tide out and back, confirmed the effectiveness of a certain newish lure. Hung out for a few hours after dark with a couple of guys (Andy and Bryce) bait fishing; got to see 'em land a few bat rays and smoothhounds. Bryce had pics of some ginormous banded guitarfish...as in, three feet long or so.

Cons: Wasted time inside the harbor sted riding out an(d back in the channel. One new lure design that was sure to kill 'em...didn't.

Total 15 sbb and a bonefish in 4 and a half hours. Got half the fish on ScorcherZ tube baits. The other half on three-inch Carrot baits, clear w glitter. Fished it on a ned rig head....bouncing, dragging, swimming and even one fish just dead sticking while fooling with another rod. The bonefish in the pic was one of the energetic models...whacked the swimming carrot and commenced ripping drag, running, spinning the tube around a half dozen times.

Might go back Sunday an appropriate early hour and take advantage of the big tide.
