TOP 5 California freshwater fishing Locals! ( video)

Post by BassHound905 »

I just put this clip together guys. These are my personal favorite areas for freshwater fishing in Ca I have personally visited. I fish Bass probably 90 percent of the time but enjoy all types of fishing. I based this list on this......Cost? Lodging availability? Things to see and do? Great fishing? Scenery? To me these are important factors when planning an out of town trip. Our local lakes are just damn expensive....Launch fees, permits, park entry fees..etc..the list gos on and on.This of course, is just my personal list. Enjoy and debate!

Nice video.

I can think of other places/areas that can fall into a top 5 freshwater for California but it is so subjective and depends on where we fish. Of your five the only one I haven't fished is Clear lake.

If putting my five favorite together it would be hard to replace anything on your list. But if I did some strong contenders would be the lakes of North East California (Eagle, Almanor (decent size smallmouth and trout), and others), the rivers and headwaters of the Sacramento drainage (Sacramento, Pit, Hat Creek, Feather, McCloud, Yuba, etc), and the steelhead rivers northern California including the Trinity and Klamath. I consider the rivers that flow into the Sac to be better than the Eastern Sierra for quality trout fishing with more water and fewer people than the Eastern Sierra with lots of uncrowded camping.
