On Saturday, Sept 9, in the morning, somehow my rod and reel set up for catching bait fell into the surf, probably within 30 feet of the launch as I headed out of La Jolla Shores. I didn't notice it was missing until I stopped to fish for bait. If you have any information, I'd appreciate getting it back. It's time I get some rod leashes...I did catch a couple of undersized calicos and one decent rockfish..
Thanks.

That's a bummer.
Maybe I should bring my 30lb (or is it 50lb) pull magnet and drift around outside of the surf break and see if I can pull up anything.

Kind thought, but I certainly would not expect that. With all the kayaks that have dumped coming in, I wouldn't be surprised if such an effort would yield some interesting results. For that matter, I could snorkel around there myself. I'm hoping as close as it must have been to the beach, it may have already been spotted and recovered. No biggie. Onward and upward.

Yeah I meant it in general for other stuff that could have been lost.
I've done it at a couple piers and only pulled up an old lure.
No Rolex or pirate coins.
