A little help needed

Post by otaymichael »

Hey fellow bass fishermen, if you ever fished Barrett (God's gift to mankind, well, to bass fishermen anyways), or if you ever thought about it, we (those that go out AND the lake staff), could use one minute of your time to help with a' little' problem. Would you please? Here's what's up (I posted it with my report under Barrett reports, but this time of year it get's so hot out there that many don't read those reports now,as they won't go again till fall, or next spring even, here's what I'd put:

HELP! The dirt road to the lake (about 7 or 8 miles) is in terrible shape. This past Wed. I thought it was just me, but no, it'd gotten worse in one week. Laurie (stafer) asked me to ask YOU to petition the city to get it graded.
Not only us drive it, but staff has to drive in and out all the time. So let's help save their vehicles, and backs, from getting destroyed, ok? Pretty please! Please respond if you do, let's get lots of us helping, squeaky wheel gets the grease!
Thanks from them and myself.

EDIT: I talked to Laurie about the lack of paint on the large surfaces of the seats and front deck, and how they get scalding hot when the paint gets warn off. I've started to bring 3 beach towels to cover the two seats and the front deck and it's helped immensely, turning the boat from being a hot skillet to fish from. Anyway, she said 'figure to odds' that the city would paint them'. Well, we only need the three large surfaces painted, how long would a roller or spray gun take? Couple of hours for the whole batch with the right equipment, done once or twice a year? So I've added that to my request from them, why not?!

Back to the grading issue: I filmed some of the ride out two days ago, and you could send the YouTube link to them via email. Extra credit if you follow up with a phone call, ok? Road takes a toll with over 200 folks driving in and out weekly.

EDIT: According to member TommyP, the person to contact at City Lakes is Bryan Norris (619.668.2014)

So went online, here's info:
"Of San Diego County’s 24 reservoirs and lakes, 18 allow fishing. Bryan Norris, Reservoirs and Recreation Program Manager for the City of San Diego, oversees eight locations offering recreational opportunities, including fishing." It listed the lake, Barrett was one. Sooooo....
I'd send him my complaints too then.

Please mention both issues, thanks.

The towel trick worked to keep the heat down considerably, but the boats really just need fresh paint every so often.

(My prop quit working Wed., got towed in and exchanged it. First time that's happened. And thanks to the couple that helped, did not get their names).
