Spots and the Yamamoto Uni

Pulled my hamstring trying to execute a foolish soccer move, but there was no way I was missing the Saturday bite. I spent eighty minutes kicking against a brutal current in the dark, dragging a dead leg, all to test out a new Shimano setup bought to replace the one currently serving as artificial reef structure on the marina floor.

The June Gloom was thick, but the spotties were chewing. After dialing in a precise parallel float-tube geometry, I stumbled onto a completely accidental reaction pattern with the Yamamoto Uni—including a suspended dock-canopy bite that completely changes how I look at these slips, and a five-minute cage match with a mud marlin that reminded me why keeping your pliers where you can't find them is a bad idea.
