5/26- Murray dam inspection

I was leaving Murray this morning and as I was ready to load my truck on the ramp, a bunch of workers from the City of San Diego or hired by the City started showing up. There was close to 20 of them. I asked if they we're there to inspect the dam and one of the guys who looked in charge said yes. They were going out in groups as they only had one boat to transport them. Hopefully they will not find something that suddenly makes the city lower or drain the water so it can be added to the list of other city lakes that are closed to boating now. I will keep my fingers crossed and you guys should too that no bad news in on the way.

Marathon Construction Corporation? They are probably hoping for a problem so they can make some money off repairs. If it is anything like the other lakes, the bill to fix would be a marathon size. Isn't there a company like "Tightwads R Us" that we could have used instead?

So... you don't believe that the hodges dam which is 108 years old and over 115 feet tall was compromised? I'm not trying to defend the city, they suck but come on man. Go on youtube and look up dam failure and you'll see what happens when things aren't maintained. Not only do you lose the lake but usually the resulting flood kills a bunch of people and destroys tons of infrastructure and homes. There's a reason we have inspections and standards.
Is government perfect? No absolutely not. And when they screw things up, we need to make our voices heard, but to deny experts conclusions on everything and chock it up as conspiracy is just dumb.

If the dams were in such need of repair you think the city would step up and fix them. If the dams were deemed unsafe pretty sure they would pay the price to fix them instead of having a dam fail and kill thousands of people with crazy flooding. Water is money

this… no, I don’t think for one second that the condition of the dam has anything to do with the current water levels at any of our lakes. Did some inspection reveal possible areas of concern? Maybe. That’s for sure not why the water is where it is. You honestly think that dam over at el cap is just gonna give out and the whole lake wash down El Monte road?!?! These are/were excuses to do what they’re doing with the water. And if you think these weather predictions of a record El Niño don’t play into their decisions, you’re also a fool. They do this every year, El Niño or not. Transfer water ahead of “projected” rainfal, and PRAY they get the lakes filled back up for free. Same thing. Every. Single. Year
