5/6-What the heck...

Post by VinnyBass »

I woke up today with no intent to go fishing. I made an early trip to the grocery store, came home and a couple biscotti's with a cup of coffee. Believe it or not, I sometimes really do not feel like fishing especially if I did not prepare everything the night before. I spend so much time deciding what certain baits and tackle to bring all based on where I
will be fishing the next day. I think prep work
is important (especially if I am not fishing in my boat) and try to limit my tackle otherwise my kayak would sink if I brought everything I think I may need...ha ha Not really feeling in the fishing mood, but staying home did not sound good so I quickly tossed some plastic worms, grabbed 2 rods and headed to the SD river(knowing that I should of took more assorted tackle) and got there at 8:30. Did not stay long....worked plastic worms and landed 2 small bass. One of them was a micro bass that must have been really hungry to hit a 7" worm. While it is always fun to fish, I think I should try to avoid rushed unplanned fishing trips with very limited tackle............well at least untill the next time...ha ha. :-)

Yes, fishing is much better when you have all your rods tied on and your tackle for the day ready to go.

Or just go with it, it’s only fishing. On most of my local trips, I travel with 1 rod and a Ziplock with a few jigs and a Topwater. So simple and easy. After over 40 years of carrying 300 pounds of every tool ever made, plus all the custom ones I created for every contingency, I value ease and lightweight more than most. The introduction to Float Tubes only cemented my resolve. I still catch tons of fish. Mostly the ones of limited intelligence but I’m OK with that.

I only just "go with it" when I am going to be fishing in my boat because all of my basic needs like various rod and baits are in there.
Unfortunately outside of my boat I can't just "go with it." I like to customize what tackle to bring in my kayak or if I am going to fish
for a few hours from shore on what I feel is best for the body of water I will be at. Just something I have been doing for decades
and can't stop now as bass fishing and trying to catch bass is a big part of my daily life.(besides talking a lot...ha ha)
