Thank you "jwacky" - Mussels worked great!

Post by hrierdan »

Hello all,

Had this entire week off, and decided to try "Jwacky's" suggestion for using mussel meat.

I bought a pack of frozen mussels from H-Mart.... What a WEEK!

I caught so many high quality fish! Slab perch, Giant smelt, and several BIG corbina.

I had 2 days with over 20 fish.

For the sake of science, I tried Berkley Gulp sandworms at the same time. They got some bites, but nothing like the mussels.

I will say that tying mussels so they don't fall apart is a giant pain. But well worth it.

Thanks for the great tip

Doug

Hardly my own recommendation, I’m only taking and passing along advice of everyone who’s been so kind as to provide it to me. Glad it worked for you!! Where were you fishing?

I’ve gotten better/faster with tying the elastic with each session at the beach! My “trick” is to just let it hang from the little tube, and once it touches the mussel it’ll stick. Doesn’t matter if too much is sticking out, you can easily wrap around it and bury it in the bait. Based on the amount of elastic on the spools I ordered, I have approximate three lifetime supplies so I’m not too worried about running out, ha.

That's some nice fishing... I haven't used mussel for quite a while, but it definitely catches fish...
