Nov 12-Quick River trip

Post by VinnyBass »

Was on vacation and between doing lots around the house have not been fishing much. Yeah caught some dinks the week before last at Murray, but nothing to get too excited about. Since I haven't posted for a while, I decided to post a quick report from fishing the SD River this morning. The water has a green stain to it and quite messy when the spray off the line etc lands on you and your clothes. Talked to a couple guys who said it has been real slow lately. Anyway....only had two bites and landed both bass....a tiny bass on a flashy swimmer and a little healthier bass on a senko. Glad to get out there for a few hours. Hopefully with rain in the forecast, it will flush out the water down there a little. :-)

Tiny bass(still probably bigger than what McFish usually catches) :-)

It is just a weighted Gamakatsu hook

with a senko.....and I forgot to take off the sinker stop off the line from the last bait on that rod. Nothing weird. Just me being lazy since I throw a lot of Texas rigs so I always leave the sinker stops on a lot of my rods if I wanna flip something… it is already there.

That second one look chunky. Way to go!

Those weighted hooks are super versatile. They work real good in the kelp too.

Don't use the weighted hooks that often, but it makes the senko a little more weedless as a
Neko rigged senko gets hung up a lot when
flipping into heavy cover.

And to think that it was only about three years ago when I started to use sinker stops….yet they have they’ve been around for decades. Now they’re a part of every fishing trip. :-)
