Mission Beach 8/14

Post by jwacky »

The tide was out, the crabs were big and the perch were small. New personal best (worst?) for smallest perch

Caught one other little guy, though I was getting what felt like some decent bites. Just felt like getting out to the beach on a Thursday evening for some fresh ocean air.

I was out there too. Caught a bunch of tiny guys like that. The only thing I could get to eat. North county yesterday was a bit better. You weren’t the person who asked me about finding sand crabs by chance were you? I talked to someone today.

I was there in the evening, 5:30-7:00 or so. Did you have a basset hound? I chatted briefly with someone walking his dog, talked crabs vs camo worms.

I tend to chat up anyone who walks by :D

No, sorry. I was there in the AM. Had a hard time finding crabs, switched to gulp sand worms and caught those little guys like you did.

Have you ever used Zmanns crab imitation I caught over ten decent sized ones a year ago, they last forever, they’ve got more color choices now?

I have not. I haven’t been surf fishing all that long but I’ve really only used sand crabs, gulp worms, and squid.
