The first time I went to the Eastern Sierras, it was late October and winter had come early. The GF (at the time) and I thought that trout fishing was like bass fishing, and arrived to the shoreline of Twin Lakes bright and early at 4 am, and the temperature gauge read 9 degrees. Obviously, we were wet behind the ears. A bear walked past the parked truck as I was trying to defrost, and I knew I wasn't in Kansas anymore.
15+ years later, and while that first trip still lingers like that smell at the ole Thunderbird Motel in Bishop, I can crack some nice ones regardless how little I get to fish nowadays.

Get out there before the flows go up on the LO. Wading is extremely easy, which expands your access. Don't be afraid to use Google Maps and trust your AWD*.
