Mission Bay Fishing: Bass, Barracuda and Halibut

Post by Pourboy »

Hey all,
I headed out to Mission Bay on Sunday super excited for some quantity of bites. It was a beautiful morning on the water and I hooked up on the 2nd cast with a crank. YES! Here we go...and then nothing for a while. It was actually a pretty tough day on the bay for me. I ended up getting 2 SBB, 2 Calicos, 1 Barracuda and 3 Halibut. It was a grind for the bay. I did have a super good time and lost a couple more fish in the hookset with a broken line. Not sure what happened there.

I launched near the Bahia and fished the channel all the way to Quivera Basin. Then back around to the Bahia. I actually didn't see any other fish caught. I did get to review one of my favorite beers of all time. Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. All in all it was just nice to be on the water. I did manage to save a big stingray that was hooked and then snagged to the W. Mission Bay bridge, saw a couple of dolphin and watched people zip around me on those hover board things.

I love living in San Diego! The link is here if you're interested in the video. Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!

Nice to see an MB report. Thinking about going next weekend just to mix it up. BTW, what was that creature under the bridge? Turtle?

Thanks so much! Actually it was a HUGE stingray. Around 24-30” in diameter. I wish I could have filmed that underwater but I was having issues. Go out and get em’!
