I was hoping someone on here can help me find this bait or something similar. I scoured the internet and couldn’t find anything comparable. Anyway, I purchased two of these spinnerbaits over a decade ago at Sports Chalet. I literally used them for the first time this past weekend in the bay and slayed the spotties until I got chewed off. Now down to my last one.
What I really like about them is the split ring instead of the fixed hook. I switched out the stinger hook for a 3/0 single for the spotties. If anyone has anything like this or seen anything recently, please share.

What's the advantage of the split ring? There are lots of spinnerbaits with a single hook already albeit with a fixed hook.

Some say the free swinging hook makes it harder for the fish to spit the hook, i.e harder to get leverage against the angler pulling on the other end. I mainly like the fact that it allows me to change hook sizes depending on what I’m catching. I scale it down for the spotty fishing, seems like less missed hooksets.

The Beetlespin style spinner bait has a free swinging jig head. There is a saltwater version here: https://www.strikeking.com/en/shop/wire-baits/rmg14 . There are lots of similar lures at Amazon, Ebay and Tackle Warehouse, some even without jig heads attached.
For more free swinging, put a split ring between the spinner rig and the jig head, you might need to twist the wire to get the right orientation or use 2 split rings. If you want the hook completely free from the weight, then use a wobble head style jig head. If that doesn't give you enough choices, get separate wobblehead weights such as https://www.google.com/search?q=wobble+ ... e&ie=UTF-8 .
Wouldn't be hard to make your own spinnerbaits too. For the cost of a few store bought lures, you could have dozens.
Personally, I have done better for spotties with various (mostly weedless) jig heads than spinnerbaits although some people like the spinnerbait. Let us know how you do.
