10/20 High Hopes

Post by 1Fishdude »

Sunday after I was skunked at San Vee the day before I went to the fabled Murray Lake. Hoping there I could get the stink of skunk off by catching some of these dink busters. I got there and launched about 7 and went immediately to the center of lake . I noticed immediately that there were very few anglers fishing and those that were staged up I believe what is structure off some deep points. No boils anywhere on the entire lake did I see. Not to be discouraged even though i dont have sonar on my pontoon I blind casted for 2 1/2 hours every kind of lure and reaction bait Topwaters, flukes iron suspending jerkbaits top and mid column searching for them. So my expectations of bass nibbling my toes and them jumping into my pontoon were dashed.. I went up the lake by the tules and started throwing an evergreen bfs crank. I was rewarded with the only fish of the day. It ran slightly over 4 pounds 3 ozs to be exact so i was back at car at 1q1 being checked for fishing license and lake pass by Ranger Rick or whatever his name was.

There is always very few anglers at Lake Murray
no matter what the bite is. And there was hardly any busters at all last Thursday morning until surprisingly after 11:30 and almost no busters on Friday when Mcfish was there. Murray can be a mystery at times. Anyway, I tend to agree with Moose that if you’re gonna only catch one fish, at least you caught a very nice fish.
