Not what I planned....but that works!

Post by Mcfish »

After hearing rave reviews about the topwater bite yesterday, I had high expectations for epic topwater today.. but today turned out very different! I woke up to clear skies, a full moon, and the back side of a cold front...should of been here yesterday was what I was thinking! It became obvious after awhile that the topwater wasn't really going to happen..so if the fish aren't coming up to me, I'm going down to them...spoon time! It turned out to be a bigger challenge than I planned, but well worth it! I put in 6 hours of some serious spoon time, ending up with 9 fish, 2 of them being some serious chunks! I didn't get the topwater I planned on, but it all turned out good in the end! Vinny can't give me a hard time about my "little" fish anymore!

It was overcast Tuesday and Thursday and the bass were busting. I can imagine you were saying my name in a not so positive tone every 30 minutes or less that the bass were not busting and so glad you were able to adapt and find a different pattern. Those 2 bass were really nice and gorging on shad and hopefully made your trip down to the lake all the way from Ramona well worth it. It was fun chatting with you before you left the lake and share the excitement of catching those 2 chunks. I did notice after you left, that you did not pay
your fee in my special iron ranger. Perhaps you forget, but the fee will be double the next time you visit and if you do not pay it, you will be banned from the lake for 6 months.
Again nice job out there and tight lines always. :-)
