9/16-Yeah...that lake

Post by VinnyBass »

Trying not to bore everyone with a fish report that turns into a novel, I decided to
keep it a little bit shorter and simple. Enjoy! :-)

Fished Murray(yeah, that lake) under cooler and windy conditions
Bass were on the chew... despite 6 or so bass coming unbuttoned, was still able to land 16 bass, all on reaction baits.
Most all of the bass were clones but it was a very fun morning.

That's a great morning and isn't fun to fish when it's cooler?

They were pretty effective even in the choppy water. They were getting lots of bumps in between catching bass. I had luck with them on my last Murray trip also. I used to use them more years ago and just decided last trip to give them a go again. They are small and the wind was howling so I used a spinning rod to get longer casts.

Didn't get on the water till close to 8 as I did not plan on fishing today, but it seemed more fun than staying home...ha ha
It was cool and the wind really was pretty steady and felt refreshing, but I figured there would be no surface action due to the
choppy water, but things changed.

Yeah, I had some Damiki under spins and put on some BassTrix Flash shad as a trailer.
IMG_5268.jpg
The hooks are small on it and the bait got banged a lot but did land some fish.
A smaller trailer may have been a better fit.

Hope @Mcfish doesn't see this because
he says I give up too many secrets.....but I am just trying to be helpful. :-)

Vinny,
As an old guy who gets out about once or twice a month versus what seems to be about every day for you (congratulations), thanks for this and all your updates. I am a follower as you do seem to rule here.
One point and one question.
Re: your last photo, it's good to see Jimmy Houston's tradition carried on. However, Jimmy puckered way more. You kissed your fish like it was your sister. Jimmy did other wise.
How do you fish an under-spin? Have never used one.

I understand completely.
Just thought I'd throw it out there in some level of joke.
Now, "...dinner together..."
I think if I was she, I'd decline.
